What movie is this partial line from?

I’ve had this partial line from a movie running around in my head for the last few days, and I think the only way I’ll be able to make it go away is to find out what it’s from.

The partial line is “…unless he is known to you personally.” It’s spoken by a man, in a rather distinctive cadence with the first six words done slowly like “unLESS he is KNOWN to you” and then “personally” run together rapidly. The beginning of the line is something to the effect of “don’t trust any man”, but for some reason I can’t remember what it is exactly.

Ok, is that obscure enough? I figure someone here has got to know.

Anything else to help with the memory? Setting? Costumes? Props? Actors involved?

It does sound familiar, but not unique. It’s distinctive enough that I’d say I have heard the line (or one very much like it) within the past year, but that might be from a TV/cable version of a much older movie.

Intriguing OP.

Could it be Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb?

Just a WAG, but could it be the voice on the tape recorder from the original “Mission: Impossible” TV series when Jim Phelps gets his orders for the week? That’s the first thing that popped into my head.

Aha! That sounds right. Yeah, when I “play” the partial line in my head, it sounds like the actor who played Ripper. And the first part of that sentence sounds right too. By jove, I think you’ve got it, Thanks!

Amazing! Well done Waenara!

:o  Thanks.
