What movies do you want to see released to DVD?

Well THAT was stoopit: I cut and pasted “Emperor of the North” into the “Title” box by mistake, then hit “return,” and posted that incomplete list accidentally.

Anyway, to continue:
*
Salo
Confessions of an Opium Eater
Ace in the Hole
Gabriel Over the White House
The Iron Horse
Street of Shame
Killer of Sheep
To Sleep with Anger
Christmas in July
The Crowd
Distant Voices Still Lives
Emperor of the North
The Fugitive (John Ford)
Europa 51*

–and that’s all I have time to think of right now.

1492: Conquest of Paradise
Island of Lost Souls (what is the law?)
Intruders (TV movie from the 90’s about alien abductions that was quite creepy for a TV flick)

An 80’s sci-fi movies called Lifeforms. Quite intelligently written-I have it on VHS but it’s getting fuzzy. :frowning:

Well, 2 are Japanese, 1 Greek, 2 Polish, 1 Indian, 1 Mexican, 2 French, 1 Russian, 1 Danish, 1 Italian, 1 German and 3 silent (including 2 more French).

Of the American films, one’s a four-hour documentary, two are William Faulkner adaptations, one’s a Randolph Scott western, one’s a seminal work in black cinema, one has perhaps Bernard Herrmann’s best score, and two are among the greatest love stories ever put on screen.

And if they were on DVD, I’d tell you to put them on your NetFlix queue ASAP (though some are still available on VHS). Here’s hoping…

Twisted Nerve
Pretty Maids All in a Row
The Dion Brothers
aka The Gravy Train

Woo Hoo! Looks like one of the films I listed (The Double Life of Veronique) is getting released later this month by Criterion. A small start…

The Last Polka

Q. Schmenge

Just kidding about the last name. Mine isn’t really Schmenge, but I love those two characters.

Thanks

Q

I second that. But I was unable to find that on VHS when I checked extensively years ago, so it may be a long wait.

Ditto. I’ve been checking for this frequently.

And speaking of ducks, I bought a copy of The Duck Factory, an early Jim Carrey TV show, thru Amazon’s used dealers and it (VHS) arrived blank. I got my money back, but I would have preferred the video.

Duck Factory used to air on Comedy Central back in the early days of the channel. Jim Carrey is the straight man. The only fun thing is seeing voice actors on screen. “Ohhhh so that’s what that guy looked like.”

I’ll be damned. Never even heard of that. But will have to keep an eye open for it. Thanks!

Prince of the City

20th Century Oz

Becket, the story of King Henry II (Peter O’Toole) and his wenching partner-turned-Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas a Becket (Richard Burton). With John Gielgud as the French King Louis VII.

The Legend of Billie Jean

This might cheer you up (though you’ll still have to be patient).

Serial (1980)
Help! (1965)
The Last Emperor (1987)

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (1968)
