I love the names William and Michael, so I would like to combine them as William Michael. The only trouble is I hate Billy and Mike, so in all likelihood people would start calling him Billy or Mike.
I’m really starting to like the name Aidan, but no middle name with it as of yet.
For a girl, I’ve always liked the names Elizabeth and Catherine.
I’m a big fan of classic names. Sure, my kids might not be the only kid in their class, but I think that will be balanced out by everyone knowing how to say and spell their names.
D’mitri
Anatoly
Nikolai
You can see, I like ethnic Russian names. Now to find a good female Russian one…
My first name is my father’s middle name, his first name was his father’s middle name, so I guess I’m stuck naming my first son Alexander. No idea about a middle name yet, though.
My girlfriend wants to name a child Ezekiel Zachariah, but I replied that no child of mine will have to go through school being called “EZ”.
LNO this is the reason my eldest has the middle name E , solved an argument as to whether he would have the middle name I wanted (Ezekial) , or my middle name (not to be revealed here ), or his maternal grandfathers first name as his middle name. So we settled on the letter E and he can tell any story he likes to justify it! At least he won’t be stuck with NMN on his government files!
CrankyAsAnOldMan: This is the wife of jus lookin round. If we had had a fourth child Jus Lookin said he wanted to name it “Z End”.
As for the names of our kids Zach E eniatials spells out the first 3 letters of Zebadiahs’ name (Zeb). As for our daughter I like the name Sabrina but wanted to keep with the Z’s.
If I am lucky enough to get married and have the patience to bear/adopt offspring, these are the names that I’d like my kids to have.
Boys: Lukas, Matthias, Bennett, Kieran, John, Anthony.
Girls: Katya, Elisabeth, Caroline, Aidenn, Anastasia, Lennon.
Girls: Rosie, Mary, Jerusalem
Boys: Trust, David, John, Ryan, Thomas
Twins: Bert and Ernie
I’d love to call a son Israel but I have friends who’ve already done that. I guess a girl could be called it too but Jerusalem seems nicer. You could get Sally, or Jerry out of it. Even Lemmy, if you’re into Motorhead…
I always thought Trust would be a great name for a boy, but I’m regularly shouted down. Ryan is for my brother, who passed away. John is just because so many of my family are called John McGovern already and I’d like him to feel there’s a link to his past.
Mary and Rosie are just beautiful names. I also like someone’s suggestion of Eliza Beth. Elizabeth itself is nice too.
Boys:
Marcus
Neil
Leo
Matthias
Girls:
Maeve Marie
Penelope (Penny)
Selene (Leenie)
Artemisia
red dragon 60, how 'bout:
tatiana
anastasia
larrisa
svetlana
zoya
ia
marina
i’m sure i’ll be voted down with iliya for a boy, morticia for a girl.
Boy: Beelzebul Mephistopheles
Girl:Mephistopheles Beelzebul.
As an added bonus, my name is 10 letters long and (apparently) completely unpronounceable to non-german speakers (just pronounce every letter, how hard is that?). The wife is protesting a little, but I think she’ll come around. I can sign the birth certificate while she’s passed out after childbirth, right?
In my defense, she is leaning toward Alchemy for a girl, Ezekial (sp?) or Noah for a boy, so I don’t think I’m too far out of line here.
I feel sssoooo uncreative reading this. Usually I always want to name my first born son after my SO at the time. So far I’ve been through Nathan (Nate), Brian, Jason (Jay), Nick, Sean, Doug, Peter, and a few dozen more. I’ve always stuck to one kid being named after my father, Michael. And I really like the name Charlotte (I’m not really sure how to spell it though) for a girl. I also like names that can be shortened into something cute (not something gross like Steph, aka Step-on-me). I also really like the German name Johannes, but I would never be brave enough to name my kid that, although it could just be Joe…
With two children, a boy named Carsten and a daughter named Teagan, if we went for a 3rd one, being able to find something as different (read: opposite from normal white bread names) as her/his siblings.
Here are my favorites du jour:
Oliver Ignatius
Ignatius Wolfgang
Oliver Otto
Dermot Ignatius Wolfgang
Bob (ha…just kidding)
(I’m on an Ignatius kick, lately, if you haven’t noticed.)
Sophia
Josephine
Ursala
My neighbor’s just had a baby boy 5 weeks ago and I suggested Horatio Algernon Winston Ignatius. They named him Colton, instead. I wonder why.
Princess Buttercup
Three words:
Maximus
Decimus
Meridius
After reading this list… I’m SO glad I’m not any of these kids.
I can barely contemplate the mere suggestion of the possibility of having kids at the moment, but I got names for 'em:
Girl: Amy Tabitha (after great grandmother I never knew, just always liked the name)
Boy: James Forest (1st name after dad, middle after granddad)
All this, of course, pending me meeting someone, marrying, settling down, negotiating and agreeing on using at least some names from her family, etc.
I’m being paid $100 from a friend if I name my first child Sir Fuck-a-Lot.
Now there’s a kid who will have confidence.
Studi
Studi:
how about Alex? or Anthony? or Stanley?
(“Being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are rape, ultra-violence, and Beethoven.” …I loved the movie, and I loved the book too.)
Boys:
Callum (I just like the name)
Ian (though my future housemate has that name - I might change my mind in a few months!)
Malcolm (My grandfather’s name)
Etienne (though it’s my SO’s uncle’s name - I always liked it anyways)
Sylvain (see above!)
Edmund (for a middle name -my other grandfather)
Unfortunately, if I have kids with my SO, none will be called Callum cuz it would just be too cruel with the last name - which I won’t reveal
I don’t really have any girl names picked out. Clearly I’m hoping for boys! I still have time, though
Daughter: Molly Katherine (after a good friend)
Son: Justin Kieran
The thing is, their future father has a Latin last name, so everyone will be able to tell that they’re Irish-Hispanic
Good choices pepperland!
Lennon and McCartney are nice.
Wouldn’t it be cool if they were twins?
My son is named Sterling.
If he had been a girl, he would’ve been called Abbie, after Mr. Hoffman.
If I had another boy, I might name him Lenny Bruce.
Girl?
So many choices, its difficult.
The top three would be Nona, Claire, and Gillian.
