What next car currently tops your list?

I’m screwed. I’d want my next four wheeled vehicle to be like my current one (old Dodge Ram pickup)- compact truck with bench seat and room for two UJM-type motorcycles in the back. I don’t think anyone even makes a truck this small anymore.

My 2000 Accord, which I only need 1-2 days a week since we commute in my wife’s 2009 Accord, seems to still have a few years left in it despite 223K miles on the odometer.

That’s why we buy Accords - not that we have to buy them very often, given their lifespan. But they’ve been getting bigger over time, so I expect whenever we do have to buy our next car, we’ll look at Civics first. If I had to buy a car now, I think a Civic Hybrid.

I am loving my new Impreza 5-door Sport Premium. Partly because I did not settle on the color and insisted they find a Deep Sea Blue.*
*My last car, a Corolla:

“I’d really like dark blue, or the dark grey.”
“We have red.”
“OK.”

Wow, this thread made me realize that I don’t have a “next car” in mind – for the first time I can remember! That’s how happy I am with my 2010 Nissan 370Z: I bought it used 18 months ago (with only 16k miles on it), and I still think it’s pretty much perfect. It’s my favorite of all the cars I’ve had. I can’t even think of what I’d replace it with if I had to. Nothing out there right now appeals to me as much as the Z does…I guess I’d have to get another one.

(I’d really miss my 40th anniversary exterior and interior, though!)

I hope you start doing it again!

I recently decided/realized that I won’t be going to FATT again any time soon. :frowning: The Z requires too much aftermarket stuff to track safely: oil cooler, upgraded brake fluid, new brakes (pretty much) each time, etc. When I got the car I was totally psyched about tracking it, and the research I did before buying it didn’t include tracking it because it never occurred to me that Nissan would make a sports car that couldn’t be safely tracked as-is. (I could take an OEM Sentra on the track with no problem, but not a Z! Gah!!) Turns out, though, that the time and money required for 1 or 2 track days a year just isn’t worth it. It’s disappointing (shakes fist at Nissan), and I’ll miss having track days as part of my “story,” but I love this car as a daily driver and I think I’ll be happy with just that. At least, for now.

To perpetuate the hijack a little: You could take the 370 soloing while spending a lot less than you would tracking it. It’s still fun as hell, and I imagine the 370 is competitive in the stock classes. However, if you have modified certain parts, you’ll get bumped to the modified classes. They’re not cheap to be competitive in, at all.

I’ve been thinking a lot about autocross…thanks!

I would replace my '02 BMW 530i with . . . another '02 BMW 530i

But if the '02s disappeared from the earth, I’d like a late-model 740i.

Misnomer: check your PM.
