what? No Castle thread? 5/7

I absolutely hate it when a show starts out with some action scene, plays to a cliffhanger, then stops and does the “3 days earlier” thing. I actually yelled at my TV and my daughter downstairs asked what was wrong. I swear I see this at least 1/2 dozen times a year on various shows.

<bolding mine>

In the scene just prior to leaving for the bad guys apartment, Ryan was told to stay behind and do something - Ryan didn’t stay behind by choice.

Yeah. When it happens irregularly, it’s a nice dramatic hook. When I see it twice a week, it gets real old.

I think Esposito will get over it, but right now he’s highly emotional. He just got his ass kicked, let Beckett down, nearly got Beckett killed, got suspended, and watched Beckett quit. Once he blows off some steam, he and Ryan will be fine. Right now he’s pissed and humiliated.

I hope so. I really don’t want to go through the next four seasons waiting for Esposito and Ryan to reveal their true feelings to each other.

I kind of liked that the writers let Ryan be the hero for a change, even if he’s guilt ridden hero.

I was indecently amused that the handsome bad guy was the same actor who was on Whedon’s Doll House. Why, I’m not sure.

You must hate Southland, then. They start every episode that way.

And don’t forget Battlestar Galactica. He was Helo on that show.

I kinda thought that they decided to leave him behind because he was straying from the whole we-can-solve-this-ourselves party line.

Ideally, they finish off the conspiracy in less than six episodes next season. Then they have a choice to make. I’d like to see them shift to a sort of Hart To Hart series for a bit, trying to solve crimes as PIs. Then the season after that Beckett can return to the force.

And yes, *Castle *has been renewed for another season.

For spooge, indeed!

I was wondering where he was going to show up when I saw Tahmoh’s name in the credits. That got me squinting at the screen when we had the church security cam footage - ‘Is that - yeah, it could be Ballard! He’s the bad guy of the week!’

And it’s a bit unusual for Castle that we know who the bad guy is from his first appearance - you can’t do that in whodunit episodes.

he’s not the whodunit, he’s the whosdoingitforwhodunit.
