I got my last RSVP for New Year’s Big Eats at da cave. There shall be eight of us. The menu shall be Fried Chikin, collard greens, black-eyed peas, N.O.T. sallit, rice, cornbread, and cheesecake. Greens for money and peas for luck. If that actually worked I would have won a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig lottery by now. 
I wish I had something to do on New Year’s Eve. I may go downtown and watch the fireworks, but it’s supposed to be really cold. I’ll see.
I’m doing nuffin on NYE either but that is by choice. I will leave irk early and see Bob (my horse) then go home and watch old movies. My standard NYE dindin is take out Chinese, pork fried lice and chop suey. Living large!
My NYE will be just like the last 15 or so - going to bed about 10. Especially since I’ll be spending it alone - my sweetie will still be in Ocala with his folks.
It’s been a long day. I think I shall retire to the bedroom and watch TV till I slip into unconsciousness.

We’re pretty boring on NYE, aka Amateur Drinking Night, as well. I grew up around Chicago, where NYE is a night to have a couple glasses of champagne, get buzzed, then drive home, hopefully avoiding a wreck and/or a DUI. St Patrick’s Day is when the professional drinkers show up at nine AM or earlier and start pounding the whiskey and beer. For the most part, those guys knew enough to leave the car at home.
I’m fast becoming a convert to technology. I was dragged, kicking and screaming into Facebook three years ago as that’s how the Faire people around here communicate, and could only get messages at home as I had a very basic cell phone that had a terrible camera and made passable calls. Oh, and I could play Snake on it.
Now, I’ve got an iPhone, and am doing things with wifi that I never imagined. My TV remote is an interesting mix of Bluetooth and wifi, where the remote sends commands to the base unit, and there’s an app on my phone and ipad that lets me control things from those devices. Even better (or worse?) is my new house thermostat. It’s a wifi device, so I can access it from anywhere in the world that my phone or ipad can get an internet connection to turn it on or off, or change the temperature.
So now, if the TV acts goofy, or the house gets cold, I can add hackers to the list of possibilities. :eek:

I shall be working new year’s eve- attempting to police amateur drunnk night. I’m not really looking forward to it.
I just discovered my housemate’s kittehs have worked out how to open the cat treat cupboard. Kitteh treats all over the place! Oh well, at least they’ll clear them up- I need to go to work.
Morning, mumpers! I have woken up today with a sore throat and stuffy nose so that is not a good sign. My plans for today involved going into town to do the usual Saturday errands so I’ll have to add cold medication to my list and try to get rid of this before it takes hold.
Other than that, I am planning a lazy weekend catching up on tellybox stuff and drinking lots of tea. However, first I must vacuum the floors because the place looks badly in need of a clean. Then a quick whizz round town to get some meat and fresh veggies from the market before an evening on the sofa with a fillum or two for entertainment.
There will be no chocolate involved despite the fact I seem to have rather a lot of it at home. Of course, nobody is volunteering to help me with the Marmite chocolate so I guess I’m on my own with both bars of it. In common with most Marmite products, it just doesn’t have enough of that great taste, even the Marmite cheese could do with a dollop of the good stuff on top.

NYE will be spent preppin’ stuff for feedin’ on New Year’s Day. No doubt both of us will be sound asleep by midnight as usual. OYKW will need to make a cheesecake NYE. That’s his main chore. I know I mentioned it before but he makes a gooooooooooooooood New Yawk style cheesecake. MMMMMM…
Ok, I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. Then cave defilthyfyin’ shall commence. The upside is it ain’t too bad so shouldn’t take more than a couple hours especially since I did defilthyfy the kitchen and bathrooms yestiddy.

Higgs woke me at 4:30 - welcome home!! :rolleyes: Tho, to be fair, I did put her in her crate around 9 last night, so I’m sure her little puppeh bladder woke her. I tried to go back to bed and let her snooze with me, but it was not meant to be, and at 6, I gave up and got up.
Critters have been fed and I’ve had my breakfast of pizza and diet coke - yum! I’ll need to run to the grocery today for bread and lunch meat and dog food, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Then there’s that disaster that is the green bedroom, AKA dumping room. Honestly, you can just open the door and step in - after that, moving about is hazardous. So I’ll sort it all out and tidy it up and with luck, get rid of a bunch of the accumulated crap. I may even get my yarn organized - can you imagine??? :eek:
It’s freezing out, but it’s supposed to creep into the mid-50s today, then rain all day tomorrow. I should do laundry today - I can hang it out. Maybe I need to get the first load in the machine…

The thermostat only works if you have a 24v feed for it, something not common in 1987 when they built the mothership. Hell, they forgot to put in 110v in the whole dang basement–and I had to yell to get it in in the reno–I wanted three circuits, got two, including the garage.

Da cave has been dusted. I have way too much dust catchin’ crap I have decided. Anywho, takin’ a break. OYKW even assisted by startin’ in the guest room. He dusted that and the study and we met up in the livin’ room and finished that together. Couples dustin’. How romantic!
Vacuumin’ and moppin’ is all that’s left and that won’t take that long. Go Us!

Towels and jeans are on the line. A load of shirts and socks and other non-white garments are in the washer. Temp has climbed to 37°!!! I’m thinking after the last load goes on the line, I’ll run to Food Lion - before it gets too crazy there. Then I can attack the green room. Anyone wanna come over and help? I’ll feed you!!
It is above freezing so I went to the car wash at 7sm. I was not the only one there. Place will be packed in about an hour. I love a de salted car. I can’ find the hyphen on this Android keyboard.r
I was going to drive my car thru the carwash, but since it’s supposed to rain tomorrow, I may just park in the driveway and let Mother Nature rinse off the road crud.
