and

because I like web-comics.
OK, I’ll play. Here’s some pages I frequent, because they tend to be updated daily and have something to say:
Rob Neyer’s daily baseball column at ESPN
David Poland’s daily movie column, The Hot Button
Jeff Well’s daily-ish movie column, Hollywood Confidential
Obscure Store, the original source for all those stupid headlines on the radio
White House Press Briefing transcripts, because they are just too cool.
There are other message boards?
Robin
The board for the people in my school that some girl put up. It’s incredibly stupid and all they do over there is talk shit about everyone, but me and my friends like to go there and lighten things up.

smackfu: The Press Briefing site is cool! Thanks for providing that link!
As for me, I often frequent the Duke Basketball Report’s bulletin board, The Onion, Zentertainment, and some others.
ummm, the Straight Dope Message Boards have kind of spolied me for other message boards. Y’all are just too smart, you make the rest of the internet look downright retarded in comparison.
However, I will sometimes cruise the boards at VegSource
I read The Onion every week.
I read the comics You Damn Kid every weekday and Bob the Angry Flower every Friday.
I visit Suck.com every so often, but definitely every Wednesday to read Polly Esther’s Filler
I visit SpinnWebe and The Brunching Shuttlecocks pretty regularly.
But the SD is the only website I must visit every single day or else my head will explode.
Other websites:
-
Rinkworks.com; specifically the computer stupidities section. Hilarious!
-
Of course, I have to mention Snopes!
-
Doomworld.com. The best source for Doom stuff. I entered a level into the 10-Sector Contest (I suppose you’d have to know a bit about Doom editing to get the point of the contest, so I won’t explain it here) held by doomworld.com. Good site.
-
Sonic Team Jr. - I’m coming out of the closet! I’m a Sonic the Hedgehog fan! (In fact, I found The Straight Dope from a link on an StH site.) STJr. is an amateur software team that is making a Sonic fan-game (there are TONS of fan-games (here)). I am doing a lot of the artwork for the game that STJr is making. Go check it out!
-
Nameless Software - Okay, I don’t actually VISIT the site that often, but it’s my website, and you should all go there now.
Other message boards:
-
STJr. message board - the Sonic Team Jr. message board. I’m “KinkaJoy” on that board.
-
3D Realms forums - 3D Realms is a great company. Most of my respect for the company comes from the fact that the e-mail addresses of all the company members are available to the public (something most game companies wouldn’t do in a million years) and they even post on the message boards occasionally.
I read the Brunching Shuttlecocks, and post at the Official Unofficial Brunching Shuttlecocks Message Board. My screen name there isn’t Tansu.
Well, Snopes, Rinkworks and Spinnwebe have already been mentioned, so…
If you’re bored, check out http://sodaplay.com/. Be careful…its addictive!
I check http://www.newscientist.com/ once a week. And it has a link to http://www.last-word.com/.
For a great repository of interesting links, check http://memepool.com.

Your pets reminded me of this one I go to when I want to talk about cats.
Pretty much here (the greatest “cool knowledge” website ever), and http://www.dualboot.net/forums , the greatest computer message board ever.
My favorite place, Pleiades Networks, recently ended a 5 year run. It’s really hard to find a smallish, intimate community on the web that’s intended for women but isn’t like the women’s magazine idea of what women want. I can’t stand most of the so-called women’s sites. They’re fake, shallow, and really corporately driven.
My new hangout, Sisterstreet.com, is another not-for profit women’s site. Like Pleiades, SS is run entirely by volunteers. The site isn’t affiliated with Pleiades, but it has some of the same admins, moderators, and participants. It’s a very laid back, low tech women’s community. Men can post there too, but they have to respect that women are primary.
Snopes is a given, but here are a few other general interest sites:
