What pets do you have?

I have reptiles!

Four corn snakes, two male (Sid & Lee), two female (Tao & Yin).

Three bearded dragons, one male (Arvind) and two females (yet unnamed).

I’m planning on another pair of corn snakes. And a boa. And a chameleon. And a crested river dragon. And building a tropical frog tank. And… um… I should just live in a zoo. :stuck_out_tongue: (seriously, if I ever strike it rich, I’ll have the most eccentric petting zoo ever XD ) My s.o. keeps begging me for a ferret. I bought Sid for him the last time we went to a reptile show. He was feeling left out and wanted his own snake.

Oddly enough, I’m actually a cat person first. Reptiles are much easier to keep. (and hide from the landlord, since they don’t smell, and don’t make any noise)

I’ve also cared for a Jackson’s chameleon, a ball python, and various geckos and frogs. Those went to my ex when we broke up. (The ball was his when I met him)

Pictures of my 2 cats -
Banzai the Ball-less WonderSpud
and
Jezabel

can’t find my picture of my iguana Pop who is now dead=( nor of mrAru’s rosy boa Cheeto, also long gone=(

Who else has a pet cemetary in their yard? <raises hand…>

I have a thirteen year old orange tabby named Sebastian that I’ve had for most of his life but my parents are currently keeping him since I’m living two and a half thousand miles from home for the indefinite future.

If I don’t wind up getting him back, I plan on getting a kitten or two when I move into my new apartment. If it’s a boy, I think I’m going to name him Tybalt.

1 dog, Male Lab/Pit mix, 2 yrs. old, ~85 lbs.

1 human, male purebred, 5 mo. old, ~20 lbs.

The second one’s a pain in the ass, but the wife wouldn’t stop at one.

I have 4 cats. Scooter, Denali, Guinness, and the newest addition Topolino

Eric wants dogs too, but we have to wait until we have a real backyard. All we have right now is an enclosed patio to our townhouse. No way is it big enough for a dog to run and play.

2 dogs and 1 cat

The oldest dog is about 3 years old. He’s a rottweiler. He weighs around 130 lbs

The younger dog is about 1 year old. He’s a pit bull mix.

My cat is about 10 years old. I got him when I lived in Bahrain. He’s short-haired and oh so pretty.

Two dogs:

Joe, 6½ yo, 65lb Border Collie/Black Lab cross. We got Joe at the local SPCA as a puppy

Katie, 6 yo, purebred Basset Hound. This beautiful dog had been abused and abandoned by previous owners. She was picked up by a caring family who nursed her back to health. She was then “adopted” by a friend of a friend who found her too much work after a couple of months and was going to take her to the SPCA. We stepped in. With lots of love and patience Katie has become a loving, trusting dog, instead of the scared, suspicious dog she was.

One Cat:

Whiskey, 3 (?) yo, DSH, formerly a feral cat as evidenced by the notched ear. Seems much happier being a housecat.

One Horse:

Cosmo, 2 yo, palamino Quarter Horse. Registered name Northern Cosmos. Cosmo was a PMU foal. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the hormone preplacement drug Premarine, it comes from pregnant mare urine the by product of which is baby horses. Often these babies are sold for slaughter. We adopted Cosmo through a friend who got him from FoalQuest, a foal rescue group.

1 pure bred black lab female ~100#. The only pet I planned on having.

1 mixed spaniel female ~40#. Rescued from abusive home.

1 brindle lab look a like male. ~80#. Is still a pup and will probably be the biggest. Found in the road starving. Never saw a brindle lab before.

1 sheepdog mix male ~60#. Was dumped at my house starving and abused.

1 lab/spaniel mix female ~30#. Still a pup also but will stay small. Dumped at my house but had been taken care of fairly well.

I live way out in the country on 20+ acres and there is a 600+ acre wild life preserve directly behind me. Plenty of room.

Althea and I currently have two dogs: Jaco, a seven year old Border Collie/Chocolate Lab cross, and Marley, an eight month old mix breed. Marley is predominantly Border Collie/Black Lab as well, but his actual lineage is Border Collie/Shepherd (Mom) and Black Lab/Shih Tzu/Pug (Dad). He really just looks like a smaller border collie, with really soft fur. Jaco, however, looks like a midget Golden Retriever, or a Golden/Corgi mix.

Temperamentally, they’re both incredibly smart, and once Marley gets tutored* he should be much calmer. We hope. I had totally forgotten about the insanity that is Border Collie pup.
*Far Side reference

at the moment, just two gerbils, Marla and Slide (both female, I dont’ want babies).

However, in September, I’ll be moving in with two of my friends, each of whom have two cats, so there will be six pets to three people.

The most my family ever had at once was: 2 dogs, 2 birds, 2 rabbits, 2 hamsters, and a fish tank (a large one, but I forget how many fish we actually had).

One (used to be 2 until one ate the other) Red Bellied Piranha.

Four cats. One boy, Domino, who lives mostly outside (the girls hate him).
Three girls…Devil Cat, Echo, and Quicksilver. They’re insane, but they own the joint, so we have to put up with them.

One cat named Scooter. I think there are at least three dopers with cats named Scooter.

For those of you that did not include links to pics of your pets…shame on you !

We have two cats, Tanker and Jacob Murphy. We also have a dog, Hockey. We’re discussing getting another dog (a rottweiller, ideally) when we have a house with a fenced yard.

Tanker is a 9 year old female medium hair Torti, but she doesn’t have distinct patches like I’ve seen on other tortis. Nicknames: beastie (she’s 15 pounds), Ray (tanqueray), tankalicious.

Jake is a year and a half old male short hair tabby, grey with black stripes and white patches on his belly. He’s a humane society baby. Nicknames: Murphy (he makes some odd noises when he mewls), Jacob, monkey and mongoose.

Hockey looks like a little blond husky, but without the facial markings. She’s 9, as well, and was found on the street. She ran up and attacked with puppy teeth Ardred’s old dog (rotti / lab). Our vet guesses she’s part spitz, part golden retreiver and part husky… way back. She was named for a japanese breed “hokkaidiken” (or something… I inherited her with my boyfriend). Hockey is an easier spelling, though. Nicknames: screwball, puck, pooch

Two Australian Shepherds.

Neilli (pronounced Nelly) who is a red bi (red and white) female that came to me as a puppy and

Chancellor who is a red merle male that is a rescue.

Both are in the 70# range (big for aussies these days) and by far the sweetest puppers I have ever had the pleasure to own.

I have a parrotlet which is like a mini-Amazon parrot, his name is Cheeka.

And I had a cat when I was little.

Seven dogs, five cats, and two horses. And three ponds with assorted fish and other wildlife like toads and things I’d rather not think about. The dogs are my parents’, but since I’m still at home, I suppose I should claim them. The cats are mine.

The dogs:(in size order)

** Riley**- male Irish Wolfhound, dumb as dirt, but a sweetie
** Nora**- female Irish Wolfhound, or so they say. She looks more like a deerhound and acts like a terrier. She was raised with Jack Russells and tries to play with them. It freaks them out a little, but they’re mostly good together, mostly.
Percy- Dalmatian, he’s actually my sister’s dog, but she’s living in an apartment with a ‘no dogs allowed’ rule so he’s back home. He was a rescue dog, and he’s the calmest dalmatian I’ve seen. Named after Lord Percy Percy from Blackadder
Grady- um, Grady might be a minature pinscher, if you delete the minature part. He looks like a giant red min pin. Fiesty. That’s Grady. He’s another rescue dog. Formerly my other sister’s cat, she was going through a period where she named all of her dogs after hospital where she’d worked so he’s named after Grady in Atlanta.
Imelda- Imelda is a mutt. We have no clue what she is, but she’s adorable. My sister brought her home as a puppy claming she was a Jack Russell. There’s probably some Jack Russell in her, but there’s something else. She’s named after Imelda Marcos, cos she’s got four white feet or shoes.
Scout- a Jack Russell. We got him and his sister at the same time, they were Zelda and F. Scout Fitzgerald, but Zelda died about two years ago.

Annie- another Jack Russell, very little, but thinks she’s bigger than Percy.

The cats:(In age order)

Elroy- Large black and white cat, aka kitten boy. He has a howl like a Siamese.
Cotton- I had nothing to do with this name, my friend gave me Cotton, they told me they named her that because she looked like a dirty cotton ball. She’s supposedly a siamese without a tail. She’s got the right markings, I suppose, though she’s a bit dark, and she definitely doesn’t have a tail.1
Monty- Small black and white cat, has a tiny baby meow, aka the cat who says Ni!
Wesley- Gray Tabby with a white belly, always looks like he has something evil in mind
Lucy- I got Lucy when my niece was two so my niece got to name her. God knows how she came up with Lucy. Good name though.

The Horses

Ruby Chestnut mare with a stubborn streak a mile long. I love her. Just my type of horse.
Patches - My mother’s horse, a chestnut and white paint, very nice horse who gets pushed around by the other horses.

I could only find pictures of a few of them. Imelda runs from a camera like you’re trying to steal your soul, and Grady always seems to be eating when I’ve got my camera. The cats, well the cats I don’t have an excuse for.

the animals

Three cats:
Minny–all black, female shorthair. Petite and dainty. Also old and crotchety.
Zeke–gray tabby, aka Zekey, named for Wizard of Oz farm hand. Full of love–will jump into your arms from the floor, proud of his beautful belly fur, sleeps on my pillow with his body under the covers (thinks he’s human), occasionally shits on the floor and apologizes with an “I’m really sorry, I know I’m being bad” meow. I call him “The Greatest Cat Who Ever Lived.”
Charlie–orange tabby, struts around the house like he owns it, will take a swipe at anyone who passes in his body space, plays fetch with straws, cuddles like a baby, huge vocabulary. His tail was broken when he was being born (or shortly thereafter) and never healed correctly so he has an L-shaped tail.

Three fish:
Crabbe, Goyle and Leroy

One guinea pig:
Finch–my daughter named her and had just finished reading To Kill A Mockingbird.

I have three cats. There’s Maeve, she’s queen of the castle (boxes too), and the two guys, Pixel in front and cutie pie Piper with his paw over his face.

I’m also fostering three kittens from the local shelter. That way I get to play with adorable little fuzzballs then, when they get big enough to get into everything, take them back for adoption. This is my second foster group and it’s working out nicely so far. Though I admit I miss the little ones when I take them back I’m really trying not to add anymore to the household.

Unless it’s absolutely necessary, of course.
(After all, my sister has four cats and two dogs so as long as I don’t have as many animals as her I’m still sane… right?)

3 mutt-dogs: Mojo and Binkley are Beagle/Corgi (we call them Borgis), and Penny looks like a mini Dalmatian. The vet thinks she’s probably part Jack Russell or Rat Terrier. We’re also known suckers, so this number could increase at any given moment.
