What’s your favorite current show on TV?

Ghosts has been mentioned a few times.
Monk is my favorite show. There are a couple of current shows I like that have some similarities. Quirky crime solving detective, with humor. The two I like are High Potential and Elsbeth.

Another fan of Ghosts. I’ve watched both the American and British versions. While the original Brit version is pretty good, I find the writing to be funnier with some consistency in the American version.

I think The Last of Us is a standout and a close second is Fallout. I don’t play video games but both caught my attention. I’m also enjoying The Pitt (esp. the young blond intern or whatever they are, she is a great character). and after I rewatched the first two seasons of White Lotus (I was lukewarm on it on first viewing), I think that is an interesting show. I will watch Severence season 2 but I have problems with it. I’d like to think I’m into cerebral, intelligent shows but this one doesn’t stick in my memory well and I have trouble following it.

I really like this show as well. Gary Oldman is mesmerizing. He takes what otherwise would be a slickly produced, but nevertheless mostly generic spy thriller and transforms it into a funny, wildly disarming one of a kind spectacle.

Shoresy. The spinoff from Letterkenny, featuring a character that was basically a running gag and an excuse for Jared Keeso to endlessly play the dozens, is the most human, sometimes heartbreaking, comedy on teevee. It’s got the absolute best comic timing from any ensemble on the tube. I couldn’t give a monkey’s about hockey in my everyday life, but I can’t stop watching this.

Fair warning, there’s some annoying stuff in the first season, with a few characters that would fit more into Letterkenny with their eccentricities, but it settles down after that.

If you’re in Canada, it’s on Crave, obviously, and I think it’s on Hulu in the states.

I grew up on 2 (KRON), 4 (NBC), 5 (KPIX), 7 (ABC), and 9 (PBS) - then came channel 20: The Brady Bunch! Yay!
I now have see SO many channels on Sling, I have Netflix for standup specials and a few series that I binge watch (T.G. for the DVR).
This reply is pretty useless so just to say: There’s not enough time in the day to watch what you’d want to watch with all the time it takes to scroll through the different mediums. When I decide on something I’m so exhausted that I collapse having watched nothing at all.
I often wish I had those few channels as my only options.
Stand Up Specials on Netflix makes me happy. :slightly_smiling_face:

Right now, my favourites are late night comedy - Taylor Tomlinson and John Oliver - and panel comedy - the aforementioned Taskmaster and other Brit shows like QI and 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, but also Dropout’s Make Some Noise and Game Changer.

For thriller - quite enjoyed Black Doves recently, and currently enjoying The Night Agent.

I also really like some current isekai and fantasy anime on Netflix - I’m Quitting Heroing, Reincarnated as a Sword, Overlord, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.

I love Qi, The Chase, and Impossible, but I don’t get to watch them very often.

I like the British editions of Weakest Link and Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The American versions are so dumbed-down they’re painful to watch.

Live local and national news are the only reason I have streaming “TV”.
I do quite like several shows already mentioned, especially Severance, but is it a “TV” show? It’s been like years between season 1 and 2. These new streaming service shows are new phenomenon. Much better than typical network TV of earlier times.

I used to watch a lot of old shows, but the only one I’m interested in now is The Avengers (1961–1969). They’re currently running seasons 2 and 3, with Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale.

I just remembered: The Sopranos will be on after 12 o’clock tonight. Ralphie hasn’t got long to live.

I have many and don’t think I can just say one is better than the others.

Ghosts (both US & UK)
All of the Chicagos
All Creatures Great & Small
The Pitt
Tracker
Matlock

For something easy to watch and have a few laughs:

Poppa’s House
Shifting Gears

Yes! :+1:

Will Trent

Who is “they”? I’ve only seen the Cathy Gale episodes once, on a classic TV channel, and they were never rerun.

CHCH, Channel 11 in Toronto. They have a Retro block from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on weekdays. Old shows rotate in and out, and The Avengers has now been replaced with Mad About You.

Hardly an equitable substitution, in my humble opinion.

PS: It might be brought back in the future. As I said, shows rotate, so you never know what’ll be on a few weeks or months from now.
