I’m filling out some information on these guys on another website, but cannot find which schools (high school and college) they went to. This one is for those Google super sleuths. Any help would be appreciated.
Doug Ames–Jose Canseco’s agent (looking for college)
Harry Lee Coe–former Florida State Attorney (high school and college)
Jim Finks–Football Hall of Famer (high school)
Earl Gillespie–former Milwaukee Braves announcer (high school and college)
Arthur Murphy–former Idaho State Representative (high school and college)
Harry Ornest–former owner of multiple sports teams (high school and college)
Peahead Walker–former college football coach (high school and college)
Thanks a ton.
Feel free to share random tidbits about these guys as well, to liven this otherwise boring thread up a bit.
Here is an obituary for Arthur Murphy which might help put people in the right direction. He was born in Sandpoint, ID in 1898 and played minor league baseball from 1917 - 1927, so he would have been 18-19 when he started playing ball. Possible he didn’t attend college. High school would likely be whatever was in Sandpoint at the time.
Also, it looks like Sandpoint High School wasn’t built until 1920 so Murphy wouldn’t have gone there.
Here is an article on the first school in Sandpoint. If I had to guess, I’d say he went here for his entire K-12 (or the equivalent at the time) before heading off to play ball.
Earl Gillespieattended Lane Tech High School in Chicago. It looks like he played minor league ball also. Since no mention of college, and only high school, in that bio - I’d say he probably didn’t attend college.
