What short version of your username do you prefer?

Thanks, WhyNot. Your pronunciation is the same as mine, only enunciated, and you’re only the second person I’ve known to say it “correctly”.

I’m fine with E_K, then.

I like olives, and slightly prefer it to olive. ‘‘Olives’’ has significance in my social sphere. It means ‘‘I love you.’’

I’ve never had anyone attempt any nickname other than the ones above. They would have to be pretty creative to do so.

Panda is quite nice.

I like **meeks **and mika. I guess **Ana **would be OK but no one ever uses it. I’ve grown quite fond of **Mika **actually and even use it here and there outside of the Dope.

IRL almost no one calls me by my real name - to the point that I am genuinely surprised when someone comes out with it - so I am more than used to shortenings and nicknames.

I remember a non hearing friend explain that “olive juice” is lip-read as “I love you”. I use it now and then.

flod or floddy is fine.

I like EofA. (I know I picked something hard to spell.) **Eleanor **is fine too, although there’s another more popular **eleanor **around here.

I get Shelli here a lot and that’s fine for me because IRL I usually get either Shelli or Bean anyway.

I really can’t imagine getting in a huff over somebody giving me a nickname. You know, unless it was something like Shit Eating Donkey. But I think that goes without saying.

As I said in the other thread, I hope to be around enough to warrant nicknaming. I’m happy with tumble or tumb or tum. Capital letters or not, no matter. Or you can call me my real name, T.R. I’m an easygoing sort of gal.

Goosie, please.

And I hope we’re all doing this more for fun than as an instruction, because I honestly won’t remember most of your preferences, don’t want to offend, and would rather not feel as though I need to use this thread as a reference all the time.

Also, is it creepy for a mostly-lurker such as myself to spontaneously use nicknames (it often feels affectionate) or should I ask first?

I thought it was “elephant juice” - whatever that may be?

Well, if you shorten it, it changes the whole meaning!

I prefer Piggy. It sounds more like a nickname than badbad or any other shortening of my username.

I’ve seen at least one Doper take offense, but that was in a heated Pit thread and he/she didn’t want to be confused with another Doper who had a similar name. I can’t remember who it was though.

That’s me.

Nothing to say here but you have a fantastic username. I’m going to be giggling to myself all night with the images that created in my head.

'Gu is what most people shorten it to.

The homonym Goo is also fine.

I’m not fond of anything that chops off the other end (Ten, Teng…T is OK, though really too vague to be useful), and shortening it more or less in that direction would just end up looking weird.

I also respond to Neko - and prefer it, actually, but I started using that name long after I regg’d here, which is why I don’t have it in my username here. >_> :o

Apropos of abso-frakkin’-lutely nothing, but this constantly confuses me…there’s a completely different person on several other boards I’m on who has a username that also shortens to Rebo. :smack:

I slightly prefer Pansy, but anything is fine, really. It’s always a bit of a pleasant surprise when I’m noticed at all.

Someone recently referred to me as MP64 and it took a couple of days for me to realize they were talking to/about me. I felt bad about not responding to that person, and (of course) I can’t find the thread again.

I get Olent all the time and have gotten used to it, although the tz is actually an individual phoneme in Basque so Olentz was what I tried to get people to use. 'zero has also popped up.

It was **Jaglavak ** here. And you did respond to him a few posts down.
