What should I name my next computer?

I’ve been known to call mine “P.O.S.”

My wife’s laptop is named “Craptop II,” after the sadly short-lived “Craptop.”

My computers are generally named for what they are. Ideally, it’s the name on the outside of the box.

For example, my eMachines W3107 is named emachw3107. The old Gateway P3 is named just Gateway because that’s all it says on the outside. The description fields are just their location, i.e. Kitchen Computer or Living Room Computer or Media Center.

My sister did have to name her phone, though, as it was required for the voice app. Her name is Rudy. (She has to say “Talk to me Rudy” to activate voice control.)

I’d go with a Minerva/Athena/Xena for that.

I call mine ‘NOOB’. Well, it’s not so much a name as it is a description, if you know what I mean… coughs 1.6 GHz coughs :smack:

iMac: The Bat Computer
Wifi: Batcave
iPad: Batpad
iPod Touch: Batmobile

Trogdor!

of course.

El Duderino, if you’re not into that whole brevity thing.

My computer is named GIR since it was assembled from my friend’s parts bin when my iMac died years ago. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have any of its original parts anymore aside from the keyboard and trackball.

Socrates!

My computer names:
DEATHSTAR – desktop
(myfirstname)(my wife’s first name) – laptop

So, what’s the verdict?

Call it “Albondiga”, it’s the name of your pet dog in “Fallout” (in Spanish, I think the original name is Dogmeat) and I have always wanted to name a pet like that, but co-owners of my pets have never let me do it, claiming it’s an horrible name.

Since then my first suggestion about naming something has always been “Albondiga”.

Willow. Or Oracle. Or Chloe.

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.

That’s my name.
