What show are you obessed with?

“Quick, lady fair, to the Angelmobile!”

Personally, I like Wesley better, though I did love the episode with Doyle’s ex-wife and the oddest bachelor party ever.

You all remember a little show called “Survivor”, right?

  • The Simpsons
  • Any Star Trek shows
  • Space: Above and Beyond (even though it only lives in reruns)

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine–“The truth is usually an excuse for a lack of imagination”

Does one get a prize for being obsessed with bad shows? If so, I currently don’t miss the following three, even though I’ll freely admit they’re bad (compelling, but bad):

*Earth II (I can’t look at Clancy Brown, even with his long curly hair, without thinking of the sadistic guard in the Shawshank Redemption)
*Farscape
*Lexx  (yes, I do admit to watching this)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

I have every single Buffy episode on tape. I adore Alyson Hannigan, Eliza Dushku and Amber Benson.

Let me qualify my fannish devotion:
-I watched Dead Man on Campus to see Aly. That is true devotion- the movie was one of the most putrid things ever made.
-I was going to buy a television here for the sole purpose of watching Buffy and Angel.
-I’m forcing my father to tape Buffy and Angel every week, as Dartmouth doesn’t get the WB.
-(big one) I subscribe to some fan fiction lists. Let me tell you, anyone who sifts through hundreds of crappy stories just to read one or two that truely capture the essence of the show and the characters is obsessive. I also occasionally post on the BTVS boards and am on a few general lists for the show.

Oh, and I can quote most of my favorite episodes/scenes verbatium. Especially New Moon Rising.

Tara, I have to tell you…
No, I understand… you have to be with the person you l-love.
I am.
You mean?
I mean. Okay?
Oh, yes.
I feel horrible about everything I’ve put you through. And I’m going to make it up to you. Starting right now.
Right now?
<Willow nods>
<Tara blows out candle>

I’ll stop.

Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network. Oh god, what a great show, even though its only in sydication.

You wouldn’t happen to have the entire speech, would you? I thought I had it typed out at one point, but if I did I lost the file. I didn’t see it on the IMDb, either.

And I do think that Wesley has his moments – it’s just that I miss Doyle.

Yeah, the demon bachelor party was great:

Cordelia: You shouldn’t be trying to eat my friend’s brains, you horrible ugly demon people!

You have to love the part when the demons argue the proper brain-eating etiquette.

No doubt about it, The Simpsons. Basically within the first 10 seconds I can figure out the episode. But when I quote from the episodes, there’s a least one other person who knows what I’m talking about, except my girlfriend, which is a shame.

Hmmm…I’m not with the times. I have cable, but I choose to watch old cheesy reruns of British comedies they show on PBS every Saturday night. That’s the only night I watch tv. The lineup goes like this:

Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served?, The Thin Blue Line, Waiting for God, Dad, One Foot in the Grave, Red Dwarf, RedGreen, Dr Who…hmmm, I think that’s all…then another show called Short Lists is on after that. Short movies from all over the world. Totally bizarre. Totally excellent.

I’m also obsessed with The Simpsons and ER. Mom and I reserve Thursday nights to watch ER together.

The Angel Annex, as presented by the Sunnydale Slayers. They have a quote section. The episode was “In the Dark.”

I’d have to vote with Lucie on Northern Exposure as one of the most intelligently written shows I’ve ever seen.

One of the current shows I enjoy is Who’s line is it.

I’ll second Gundam Wing (I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed, but I watch it whenever I can. Very nifty music during battle scenes). I think I’m starting to become addicted to Battlebots. What’s not to love about machines built for the sole purpose of beating the hell out of each other? The wedge designs seem to be doing well. If the ones that have wheels that work upside down could shift the shape of the wedge to match the rest of the robot. . . .

andygirl, you are now my favorite poster.

Ooh, I’m flattered. You might want to check my backlog, though, before you declare a member of the Unholy Lesbian Vampire Army of the Night to be your favorite poster…

(do a search, and you’ll see what I mean.)

Anyway, if you’re interested in good Buffy sites, email me privately and I’ll show you just how beyond obsessed I am with the show.

Andy, I love you. Speaking as a married man crazily in love with my wife, I adore Alyson Hannigan. She and Nicholas Brendon as Xander are the soul of Buffy (and Brendon’s work on the premier episode tonight was proof of that).

That, and Willow is so damn sexy. Intelligent, beauitful, tolerant (who else woudl date a werewolf). Also, Alyson Hannigan is the single best at speaking in Joss Whedon speak.

By the way, have you seen the fan fiction that starts in app. 2005 with Willow and Cordelia marrying and their child becoming the next Slayer? I have to say, I rather enjoyed that one.

Damn I loved that show! I was and am truely obcessed with it!

Second place: Simpsons.

Two words: Buffy and Angel

I have about 90% of all the episodes on tape and can rattle off trivia and quotes like there’s no tomorrow. As a matter of fact, I find myself using at least one a day in conversational context… is that scary?

And I have to say, one of my favorite aspects of the entire thing is the Buffy/Angel relationship. Call me a sucker for romance.

PS: any other Buffy fans, feel free to email me and discuss this more at length =>

Immortal: The Simpsons
Dearly Departed: My So Called Life
Guilty Pleasure: Friends
Current Contender: Once and Again

I do so miss Northern Exposure, still try to catch it in reruns.
I love british comedies, One Foot in the Grave, Vicar of Dibley, Last of the Summer Wine, Keeping Up Apperances, Red Dwarf and As Time Goes By.

Truly a great show, but not an obsession yet. I expect it won’t become one till…I don’t know, mid-seaon?
