What shows do you hate but still watch?

I get sucked into the courtroom shows like Judge Judy.
I seem to run into the teasers while rewinding a tape, and just have to see what the outcome is.

Hate to say it, but Good Eats- loved it when it was simple and straight forward cooking and science. Someone obviously told AB the props and demonstrations were cool, so he now goes overboard with a half dozen per show, kind of a bad take on the Family Guy flashbacks. Need a visual representation of the caramelization process, or how something molds? No problem, AB has that.

I think Studio 60 is going to be on a lot of people’s lists.

As a child, I hated Davey & Goliath.

But, it was the only cartoon on, in that timeslot.

$40 a Day.

I can’t wait to see how Rachael Ray bends the rules to pull it off (“nice tip, Rachael”) or to watch her flail about with her hands coming up with new ways to show that she likes everything she puts in her mouth, or stare in fascination as this “chef” butchers the pronounciation of basic foods. “Tapas” pronounced like “Snapple” for example. Or “Crepe” like “grep.”

Last night she was in St. Louis, my hometown, and pronounced it “Saint Lou-ee” each and every time until I was ready to beat her to death with my Ted Drewes.

I absolutely detest American Idol. I usually end up watching at least a couple of the episodes though.

Not to refute the idea in this thread, but I think I have managed to get rid of the need to watch shows I hate. If that’s all that’s on, I check out the On Demand offerings and 7 out of 10 times will locate something decent to watch. But in those 3 out of 10 times when I strike out, I turn the TV off and do something else.

I also have gotten into the habit of DVRing shows that may not be 100% things I really like, but do outrank the ones I really hate. Right between no good options and the “watch it even if I hate it” group, I’ll watch a recorded show.

There are just too many options, including none at all, to subject myself to the torture of watching shit.

“The Class” and “How I Met Your Mother”. I hate the manic self-conscious delivery but there’s nothing better on and I have a tiny bit of interest in what they’ll do next.

Well it’s on mine. No one else on television can write dialog like Sorkin can. I tune in every week hoping the plot will get better.

I also hate any celbreality on VH1 or anything on VH1 or MTV for that matter, but I end up watching sometimes.

Saturday Night Live.

Why I put myself through such pain I have no idea. Maybe it’s the empty hope that I might catch one of those rare funny skits that come by once a season.
But usually it just leaves me depressed.

I absolutely hate watching I Love New York, which is a spinoff of Flavor of Love, which is a spinoff off Surreal Life’s season that included Flava Flav. I can’t stand the people on there, and the rampant stupidity. And yet somehow I get sucked in. I laughed and was horrified to hear that one guy was crying openly over a dog that he quite possibly accidentally killed himself. (Teacup somethingorother; it died because it fell down the stairs and broke its neck. Uhm, yeah, way to watch the tiny, delicate, shouldn’t have been bred that small dog, buddy.) Then, of course, New York (aka Tiffany, a former contestant on Flavor of Love) brings out her mom, and trouble ensues because the mother and a really ghetto guy on the show start being catty towards one another.

Maybe I’m just trying to subconsciously fill my dramatic entertainment quotient with dreck.

Me too! I will watch nearly every episode. Funny though…last night my husband said “I don’t even know why this show is still on the air. Not a one of 'em has become a star!” I told him that at least 4 or 5 have started very successful careers because of the show. He says, “I never hear them on the radio” and I told him, “That’s because we hate this kind of music! WE’RE NOT FANS!”

And yet there I am, every week…

The Apprentice – I stopped watching, but I read the threads here and the recaplet at TWOP, and sometimes I catch the boardroom on the other station.

Well, the top one for me is Jericho, which I watch specifically because I hate it, and like to make fun of it.

*Studio 60 * I don’t quite hate, but yeah, I keep watching in hope that it’ll be better than it is, and it never delivers.

We put *Grey’s Anatomy * on Season Pass because our friends like it, and we kind of just keep watching cuz it’s there, even though it’s pretty damn stupid.

None. I barely have enough time to watch the shows I like.

That show where the 16 year olds have insane parties, behave badly and are rewarded with BMWs.

The ratio of “stuff that I like” to “stuff that I dislike” on Lost has tipped markedly towards the latter, but I’m hoping it can recover.

My Super Sweet 16.

I hate it and I watch it too. Don’t know why. Those snotty, spoiled kids piss me off to no end. They bitch about getting a one year old mint condition Range Rover and I’m here driving a ten year old Eclipse that was bought used and driven by ‘speed racer’ aka mom. And their parties are often tacky and look boring in the abscence of booze.

I can’t stand that MTV show Real World but I have known one of the girls who’s on this season since 7th grade so I watch it anyway. Mildly entertaining occasionally but not very interesting.

Oh, and I swore that after getting hooked on Dr 90210 and The Girls Next Door, I would eschew High Maintenance 90210. But it was not to be. :smack: I can’t say I hate it though; some of the applicants are so clueless it’s funny.
