I did try it for 3 weeks once. When my bed got delivered on the 21st of the month I crawled in it and cried tears of joy because it meant that the back pain would finally go away! I’m glad there are people out there who enjoy sleeping on floor though. Our world would be a very boring place if we all slept in the exact same kind of bed.
My husband and I share a queen sized bed and the cats always smoosh themselves in there as well. We’d like to upgrade to a king but what we have now works well for us and we don’t see the need to spend the money on a bigger bed at the moment.
Got a queen now, but I know the next bed is going to be either King or Calif. King. Too many dogs on the bed with us, and his feet are always hanging off the end of the bed.
King, and bigger would be better. There are already 6 of us on the bed at night, and when we move and get a couple of dogs, the number will only increase.
I slept in a twin until my dog was about a year old and it became too crowded in there. My mom got me a full mattress for Christmas. Now that the dog is older she prefers the floor and I get to spread out.
I think if I got married I’d definitely switch to a king. I’ve slept on my parents’ queen in their guest room and it honestly doesn’t feel any bigger than my full.
Queen. When we bought it, it was an upgrade from a full-size futon, which was really not big enough for two people. The queen felt HUGE. We actually would have bought a king, but it wouldn’t fit into the bedroom of the place we were living at the time.
Now we have a gigantic bedroom and a king would easily fit, but when we bought our current bed, we bought it as a lifetime furniture purchase, something that would never need to be replaced, so I think we’re sleeping in it for the long haul.
Twin (known as a “single” here in the UK). I drew the short straw for the smallest bedroom in my flat. I’m not sure a double (King/Queen) bed could even fit in my room without blocking the door. I miss having a bigger bed.
A non-standard size that’s something like 36" x 86" (90cm x 220cm) - the normal beds are too short since I’m 6’6".
I had to sleep in a bed that was quite a bit shorter than me, narrow and that had tall iron rails in the army and that wasn’t much fun. The whole room woke up when I turned around since I had to sort of jump. I wouldn’t be so bitter about it if we hadn’t been tasked to find a longer bed for one of the next guys near the end of our service time … “he is over 2m tall so he needs a longer bed”. No shit, I could’ve used one too.
California king water bed but it isn’t big enough. I have an idea to take two full size water mattresses and build my own frame and have a super duper king size water bed.
Queen. I would really like a king, but you know how it goes… we already have the queen, so expensive to replace, wouldn’t really fit in our bedroom. Plus my husband likes to be close. Me, I’d like to have more room to fling my arms around, but I deal.
Mr. Serenata share a queen. We really don’t have room for anything larger in our bedroom. Also, it gives us enough space to have our own sleeping space, but we’re still close enough that I don’t feel like we’re sleeping across the room. When we stay at a hotel and get a king bed, I almost feel like we’re so far away… so I end up on his side of the bed by morning because I like to be close to him.
Twin size. I would’ve liked a bigger one, but budget and space issues kept that from happening. Though I’m sorely tempted to toss the bed altogether and just make a nest out of blankets, sheets, and pillows like I did as a kid.
The difference between a full and a queen may only be 6", but it’s an important 6". Going from a full to a queen may not feel like a big difference, but going from a queen to a full is pretty damn noticeable. I’d think going from a king to a queen would be even worse.
We have a queen–it’s plenty big enough for us to be comfortable, and it’s insanely rare that we have to go down a size when traveling. Plus, when we do get a king in a hotel, it feels all fancy and special.
