Full. I don’t move around a lot and have been known to keep my glasses, book, and other stuff on the edge of the bed during the night and not disturb it. But sleeping on a twin sucks.
Queen, but the dogs are voting for a King so they wouldn’t get kicked off at night.
Actually, when we sleep in a King while traveling it seems way too big, so upgrading is not on our list of improvements.
We share a full. We’re both compact-sized and we like snuggling so it works out well for us. Like CrazyCatLady says, it makes hotels seem more special since they always have a queen at least.
Long ago, in my Desperate Days, I slept in a sleeping bag on a stolen door that was supported by six stolen cinder blocks. I didn’t steal the door knob, though.
Now, I have a new queen sized bed. I would have bought a king if it wasn’t for the price of sheets, bed spreads, blankets, etc,. etc.
Queen size mattress, but king size flat sheet and comforter or blanket and coverlet. It makes a big difference in comfort - it no longer matters if someone hogs covers. It’s me and my husband and a 40-pound dog and at least one cat and sometimes a baby, so there’s a lot of potential cover hogs around.
The bed platform converst to a king, so we may upgrade if we end up with a “family bed” situation later on (as we thought we’d prefer, but then again the kid seems to be a sleepkicker, so maybe not), and only have to buy a new mattress and fitted sheets.
I sleep on a queen sized air matress. I’d get a bigger one but I don’t want to spend the money. Right now it’s just me and my dog but we fill the whole thing and when I have company I sleep like crap. If I get a full time bed mate I’m going to have to get off my cheap ass and go California King.
When we buy comforters, bed spreads, random blankets, etc. we always buy king size, even though we have a queen size bed. Like you, it’s so no one gets to hog all the covers.
We don’t buy king size top sheets, though; we buy our sheets as sets.
Just btw, I’m very pleased that more queen size sheet sets are coming with four pillow cases instead of two!
I just upgraded this spring from an extended double (try finding sheets for that one). I’m a queen sized woman myself and when I share my bed, it tends to be with a man of similar size, so the extra room is welcome.
I’m not sure that I’d go with anything bigger. I have the room, but it would take a couple of feet out of my studio. That, and should I move, my next bedroom may not have the generous proportions that this one does.
A King. Contrary to popular belief, California kings are longer, but they are narrower than standard kings. And trying to buy sheets is a pain!
We have four bedrooms, three of which are fully furnished as bedrooms. One has a king, the two others queens. We also have a full in the basement.
We originally had the queen in the master, and the full in the second bedroom. We then replaced the queen with a new king and moved the queen into the second bedroom, and the full into the third bedroom. A few years later, we found a fantastic hand-crafted oak frame with a matching post footboard, and cathedral headboard, the center point of which is seven feet high. We had to have it. The problem was there was only one and it was a queen size. Like I said, we had to have it. So we had the new queen placed into the master, moved the king into the second bedroom, the old queen into the third bedroom, and the full into the basement, which is our current configuration.
We don’t have children, so we sleep around…the house (heh). Sometimes we’re in the mood for the king, or the older queen. Sometimes we rough it on the full in the basement. 90 or more percent of the time, however, we sleep on the new queen, partially because of the convenience; the master is where all our stuff is, and partially because the bed is spectacular. Don’t get me wrong, the king is nice, but sometimes I just feel there’s a little too much bed, and we don’t sleep on it enough for me to have found “my spot”. It’s good for that hotel getaway feel though.
