What song do you like to listen to over and over and over and over ...

Don Henley–The Boys Of Summer
Guns n’ Roses–Sweet Child O’ Mine
Guns n’ Roses–Paradise City
Guns n’ Roses–Estranged
Irene Cara–Fame
The Rolling Stones–Jumping Jack Flash
The Rolling Stones–Don’t Stop
STYX–Lady
Kid Rock–Only God Knows Why
Chic–I Want Your Love
Avril Lavigne–Sk8tr Boi

I can’t listen to songs over and over and over. After a while they start to drive me crazy. At some point, even the songs I love, I don’t want to hear more than just every once in a while. Songs I didn’t really like all that much in the first place become extremely aggravating after repeated listenings and end up getting pitted.

Abandoned Pools- The Remedy I’m listening to it for probably the 5th time today.

James- Laid I usually listen to this at least 5 times per week

Better Than Ezra- In the Blood Greatest song ever written, and rarely a day goes by that I don’t listen to a version of it.

Strange Funny Way I can listen to this over & over with no problems, as with

Live Again which I usually hear a few times per week.

Right now I have Ends by Everlast in my head. I’ve been listening to it for like two weeks. I can’t get the lyrics out of my head. Highly haunting stuff.

Hands down, the song I listen to over and over and over and over and over and over for decades now has been Starship Trooper by Yes. Live, studio, whatever. I can’t get enough of that song.

Other recent obsessions include All The Small Things by Blink 182, and and Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm. ( yes, it sounds EXACTLY like Michael Jackson during his “Thriller” years. So? And? ).

Come to think of it, I did a fairly heavy period with Youth Of The Nation by P.O.D. as well. Something about truly well crafted hip-hop/rap lyrics that get me, I guess.

Then again, I burned out my 45 of Call Me by Blondie… heh

Spoz told me to post this on his behalf, as he’s gone to bed now:

SPOZ’s Playlist

That’s his Winamp-generated playlist of his 300 favorite songs; the list changes all the time. Knowing him, the list has Aphex Twin / Beastie Boys / Radiohead / the Prodigy / etc. on it.

I’ll think of stuff I like listening to over and over again, and get back to this thread later.

“The Scientist”, “Politik”, “Clocks” and “A Rush of Blood to the Head” by Coldplay.

The first four tracks off The White Stripes’ Elephant.

And, inexplicably…

“Love Bites” by Def Leppard

I also listened to Radiohead’s “Fake Plastic Trees” every day of my sophomore year in college.

Oasis - Don’t turn back in anger

I’m with mungo on being afraid to listen to songs over and over, because then they become everyday-ish. I do, however, save my favorites for when I’m psyched to hear them. I really like the way most of them begin, although some develop and that’s why I like them. They include Stones’ Carol, Gimme Shelter, Jeff Beck’s Goin’ Down, Who’s Fooled Again, any of the songs on Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac very first album (love those dust my broom blues), and Steve Miller’s Jetairliner (long version), Red House, and some others. But these are my main squeezes. Probably left a few vital ones out, like Red-neck Friend (JB) and The Call Me the Breeze (LS)…

Pretty much anything by Hank Jr. - his songs have such a catchy tune and lyrics. Even my friends who are anti-country get his songs stuck in their head. I have a Hank Jr. CD that never leaves my car CD player.

Also, I constantly listen to anything by Dwight Yoakam. But my “song of the week” that I can’t stop listening to is “Dune Buggy” by Presidents of the USA

One example I can quickly think of is Rufus Wainwright’s self-titled album… it’s so soothing and melodic, somehow.

For those of you who might get a weird error box when trying to access Spoz’s playlist (I did the first time I tried, something about how the call did not execute), here is the current edition:

Now, for some more stuff I like to listen to over and over again:

[ul]
[li]almost anything by the Matthew Good Band (haven’t yet got his solo album)[/li][li]Radiohead’s OK Computer[/li][li]Big Sugar’s Brothers & Sisters, Are You Ready?[/li][li]Everlear’s middle three albums (So Much for the Afterglow, Songs from an American Movie, Volume 1, and Songs from an American Movie, Volume 2)[/li][li]Collective Soul’s self-titled album[/li][li]the Newsboys - “Million Pieces (Kissin’ Your Cares Goodbye)”[/li][li]White Stripes - “Fell In Love With A Girl”[/li][li]White Stripes - “Seven Nation Army”[/li][li]Creed - “Unforgiven”[/li][/ul]

Yup, I’m sure my neighbors love me too… cowgirl, you’re not alone!

Insane Clown Possie-Mad Professor
ELO-Fire On High
Cruxshadows-Eurdicie
Led Zepplin-Going to California
Dennis Leary-Asshole
Sisters of Mercy-Something Fast and When You Don’t See Me
don’t remember-O’ Fortuna from Rave until Dawn
Fire inc.-Nowhere Fast and Tonite is What it Means to be Young from Streets of Fire soundtrack
Nirvana-All Appologies, The Man Who Sold the World and Plateu from Unplugged
Cindy Lauper-I Drove All Night
Concrete Blonde-Lullaby, Why Don’t You See Me, Rain, Everybody Knows, Probably Will, Mexican Moon, Tomorrow Wendy, Little Wing

And until it disappeared, the live recording I made of Johnette Napolitano from Concrete Blonde covering S.O.M’s Something Fast

Almost any new song I love I play to death.

But there are a few that I have been listening to for upwards of 30 years and still never tire of. A couple that pop into my mind at the moment are both Marvin Gaye tunes: ** Mercy Mercy Me ** and “What’s Goin’ On.”

The Pixies’ “The Sad Punk” still thrills and awes me after approximately 1,472,409 listenings.

Also I got the new White Stripes album, Elephant, today, and I can definitely see the song “Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine” entering my personal Hall of Fame.
