Songs that you Can Hear Back to back & Over Again!

You know songs that sound SO GOOD to you you can just keep playing them over and over again.

One that comes to mind is “Lousianna’s Sinking” by the Tragically Hip. Also “Cowboy” by Kid Rock(although that one has burned on me a bit) I have also listened “Roller” by April Wine over and over again.

So what songs can you listen to literally back to back?

It’s not a song, exactly, but Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio; Turkish Finale on the Amadeus soundtrack. The bummer part is that it’s only a minute and a half (if you’ve seen the movie, it’s the opera that the Emperor Joseph says has “Too many notes.”).

As for songs, I’m quite partial to Sting’s Desert Rose over and over.

Four right off the top of my head:

What You Give by Tesla. I just really love the song.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Ditto above, plus I’m trying to learn it on guitar (it’s probably pretty easy, but I don’t know enough about playing guitar yet to realize that.)

Little Suzi by Tesla. I listened to this song over and over enough times (it’s a picker-upper) that my 3 year old daughter now requests it. Well she used to…NOW she requests:

Bringing on the Heartbreak by Def Leppard. I’ve listened to this over and over because my daughter requested it, not because I wanted to. But it’s not a bad song, so I haven’t objected yet.

Here’s my top 5.

Son Of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield
But Not Tonight by Depeche Mode
Belly Of The Whale by Burning Sensations Solisbury Hill by Peter Gabriel
Tempted by Squeeze

Unfortunately, my son wants to play Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles over and over and over. I’m hoping to turn his little mind over to something I can take without feeling my brain trying to implode, like TMBG.

And, apparently I need more coffee before trying to attempt codes.

One by Metallica

If I put the CD in while I’m in traffic, I helplessly push “repeat” after it’s done. That songs burns through my chest and make me beg for more.

Whew… sorry about that…

Porcelain by Moby
Rock Me Amadaeus(sp?) by Falco.

Enjoy the Silence, by Depeche Mode (But Not Tonight also rocks!)
Comfortably Numb, by Pink Floyd
Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You, by Led Zeppelin
Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Trio
Dies Irae, Verdi Requiem

So many more… I listen to the same music repeatedly quite often. It goes hand in hand with my enjoyment of watching movies billions of times over.

Moonlight Sonata,
Jump Around - House of Pain

Alive by P.O.D

A Few Hours After This by the Cure
Thru The Flowers by the Primitives
and for the sake of having a nice list of five…

Wildest Bill, I assume you’re talking about “New Orleans is Sinking.” I personally don’t give two shits about The Hip, but I live so close to Canada, everyone around here has a hardon 3 miles long for them.

These are my all-time faves from 1-100 (ok 130) as discussed here.

…and filled it with Steely Dan.

Katy Lied, Countdown to Ecstacy, The Royal Scam, Pretzel Logic, Can’t Buy a Thrill and Aja. OK, Gaucho too. Okay a seven disc changer. I’ve been listening to those for over twenty years, and they are still fresh. I’ve always liked Fagan’s super-cynical attitude. He and Becker have always found the best musicians to play on their albums (Yes, I have them all on vinyl and CD (and dammit, a CD is still an ‘album’, consult a dictionary))

Erm, yes, well anyway my point is I could put any cut from any of those on repeat and quite enjoy myself. Chain Lightning has been playing in my head all afternoon and evening, and I’m perfectly happy with that fact.
