I’d rather die
than be your slave
I will survive
and you’ll feel my rage
It’s not a question
of being brave
I’d rather die
than be your slave

My god…I’ve usually got four or five songs in constant rotation inside my head…at the moment:
Scarlet begonias (grateful dead)
Kidney in a cooler (keller williams)
Jeff wears birkenstocks (NOFX)
Desolation row (dylan)
Damn…I gotta put some music on!
I have several on rotation, too:
Ramblin’ Man – Hank Williams III - which is not a cover of the Allman Bros. song
I’m A Fraction – Blinker the Star
Music at Work – The Tragically Hip
And one song y’all might actually know!
Sweet Child of Mine – Guns & Roses
While playing guitar today as a good friend of mine played my drumset, I absolutely positively could NOT stop playing the intro to sweet child o’ mine…he got pretty pissed, but I couldn’t help it…call it a rut, I dunno
She’s got a smile that seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memory
When everything was as precious as bright blue skyyyy…
Now and then when I see her face
It takes me away to that special place
And if I stand too long,
I’ll prolly break down and cryyy…
Ahh. Now i’ve got it wedged in there tight.
I’m really liking “Clint Eastwood” right now.
“Smooth criminal” by Alien Ant Farm -love that
“Hit em up style” by Blu Cantrell is fighting for its slot–but I always change that one line to "if they fuckmess up–you gotta hit em up. It’s ever so much more bitchier.
“Celebrity skin” by Hole sounds real good.
But the most insidious is something from the “Boogie Nights soundtrack” I can’t remember the artist, name of the song or all of the words but that doesn’t keep me from humming. “* I’m getting my self together and polishing my act…if you’ve ever been held down before, you’ll refust to be held down before…mumble mumble mumble Mving on up???” God help me. I’ve got to find that CD so I can have some peace of mind. Anybody know the name of that damn song?
It oscillates somewhere between Angry Inch from the Hedwig soundtrack and Links 2 3 4 from the Rammstein ensemble.
I’m afraid of Brit-ney Spears and Cris-ti-na Aguilera.
Backstreet Boys and N’sync, I don’t know what to think
A-wooooo A-wooooo A-woooo A-woooo
and
You’re not the boss of me nowwwww You’re not the boss of me nowwwww You’re not the boss of me nowwwww and you’re not so big.
I have a few songs on rotation right now, too.
Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off–Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitgerald
Hung the Moon–Better Than Ezra
Superfreak–Rick James
Blinded by the Light–Manfred Mann
Smooth Criminal–Alien Ant Farm
This morning I woke up with “Something to Shove” by Soul Asylum in my head. I don’t know why, since I haven’t heard that song in ages. But it’s still there.
I constantly have SOMETHING stuck in my head. It was “I’m Super - Thanks for Asking” courtesy of this thread, but now that’s rotating with “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off.” Talk about a surreal combination.
On a side note, I can get rid of anything - including “Oops, I Did It Again” (gag if you like) - by going through a few bars of either “Santeria” by Sublime or “All Mixed Up” by 311 in my head. And “Clint Eastwood” is rapidly getting that ability too…bless its sweet little heart.
“Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” by McFadden & Whitehead.
“I drag this lake looking for Corpses
Dusting For Prints
Pried up The Floorboards
Hoping i’d find a suspect that has no Aliby
And the right place at the right time
I’ll be dead wrong and you’ll be just fine…”
Alkaline Trio-Private eye…
Been Awhile by Staind:
It’s been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
Since I first saw you
Since I could stand on my own two feet again
Since I could call you
But everything I can’t
remember as fucked up as it
all may seem the consequences
that I’ve rendered I’ve stretched
myself beyond my means
It’s been awhile
Since I could say that I wasn’t addicted
Subce I could say I love myself as well
Since I’ve gone and fucked things
up just like I always do
But all that shit seems to
disappear when I’m with you
But everything I can’t remember
as fucked up as it may seem
The consequences that I’ve rendered,
I’ve gone and fucked things up again.
Why must I feel this way
Just make this go away,
Just one more peaceful day
It’s been awhile
Since I could look at myself straight
Since I said I’m sorry
Since I’ve seen the way
the candle lights your face
But I can still remember
just the way you taste
But everything I can’t remember as
fucked up as it all may seem to be
I know it’s me I cannot blame this on my
father he did the best he could for me
It’s been awhile
Since I could hold my head up high
and it’s been awhile since I said
I’m sorry
Good land, is that depressing or what? But its stuck. On continuous loop and I don’t even own the record?!
There is a new poster here at The Dope who has this going through my head:
*There’s a little black spot on the sun today
It’s the same old thing as yesterday.
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of Spain
Er… Isn’t that King of Pain?
I’m not about to actually read this thread, thereby getting umpteen MORE songs stuck in my head, and I’m sorry if I turn out to be repeating someone but my song is so egregious I just couldn’t stay silent.
Brittany Spears. Pepsi. Bum-ba-bum-bum-bum. “The joy of Pep-see-ee”.
I’ve seen the commercial on TV and at the movie theater and I got by like it was water off a duck’s back – but then I heard it on the radio and for some insane reason it stuck.
Ugh! Ugh! Ugh! Aaargh!
… I think it’s probably time I finally introduced you to the
Bueno
Bueno
Bueno
Bueno
GOOD GOOD GOOD! (insert thumping dual sax)
Morphine
I know the real lyrics to King Of Pain. The new guy’s handle is “king of spain” so now I’ve got the darn song stuck in my head, but with spain in place of pain.

Ah, but would it happen to be a cover of his granddaddy’s song?
Classic, if so.
