What Song(s) Do You Want Played At Your Funeral?

I want my funeral to be a full on concert. My cadaver would be thrashing around on the floor of a mosh pit, and I may even get to body surf.

I don’t much want a funeral, but if my family ends up having one, they absolutely must play Prop Me Up by the Jukebox.

First: Bach (Gould’s 1981 version): Goldberg variations - the aria + the first 4 variations.
Then: John Cage: 4’33’’
Third: Nikhil Banerji’s rendition of Rag Bhairavi
Finally: Anything by Merzbow. Just to say: Get outta here already!

I don’t have an answer (yet) but wanted to thank you for sharing this.

Imagine by John Lennon, played until “imagine all the people living for to-”, then… Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis, played in its entirety.

My two anthems:
“You Don’t Know How It Feels to Be ME”-Tom Petty
“Amazing”-Aerosmith

“Is That All There Is?” as covered by PJ Harvey. And If I’m married to a guy who really digs me, “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers would be nice too.

“Who wants to live forever”. Recorded, please, I know the chorus would just mangle it.

REM’s “End of the World” would also be a good choice, although I suspect the congregation wouldn’t be able to take it in the spirit in which I’d intend it (which is along the lines of “Jesus wept, people, cut it out with the long faces”).

Loquillo’s “Rock and Roll Star”. Because it was such a source of contention with Dad, it’s a favourite song for the bros as well as for me, and it talks about the good times and the bad times and about people being there for you when you least expect.

And I want the Padre Nuestro Gallego (a version of the Lord’s Prayer that talks about moving to a different place to follow your calling, so it fits with my career) and Nuestra Señora del Camino (Our Lady of the Path) because I’ve always liked it (very upbeat and it talks, again, about moving).
Mr. Accident, I like your choice.
