What song sums you up best?

“Possession”, Be Bop Deluxe:

“I’m going crazy with the speed of living,
I’m leaving parts of me all over the place…
I think I’ve found a piece that looks like my heart,
But then again…
Maybe it’s just my face…”

She’s a Jar by Wilco

Today, at least.

Well, my blog’s title comes from OpIvy’s “Knowledge”
All I know is that I don’t know.
All I know is that I don’t know nothin’.

When I’m living a life of fiction, my theme is “Born With A Tail” by Supersuckers.
You know
I’m in league with Satan!
And you know
there’s no debatin’ my hell-bound trail!
I was born with a tail!

and
I’m evil,
and I run free!
There’s molten lead all in me,
so let’s get to hell!
Got the goods, gonna bring it on,
my mother done brought me up wrong,
And you can use my dick for a walkin’ stick
as well!

When I’m down, it’s “Debaser” by The Pixies. Specifically:
Wanna grow
Grow up to be
Be a debaser

Most of the time, it’s “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” by Tom Waits. Not so much the seeing the parents fight, but just the general sentiment.

“Work is a four letter word” - The Smiths

Guess my screen name says it all.

Waiting for the Hammer To Fall - Queen

“When You’re Good To Mama (Mama’s Good To You),” from Chicago. I’m a big believer that “the system works, the system called reciprocity,” and there are “a lot of favors I’m prepared to do.”

During my adolescence, it would be “Subdivisions” by Rush.

Now, “Time” by Pink Floyd seems to sum up my life.

“The Boy With A Thorn In His Side” by The Smiths…I suppose.

“The King of Pain” by the Police.
There’s a little black spot on the sun today
(that’s my soul up there)
It’s the same old thing as yesterday
(that’s my sould up there)

and
“Witchi-Tai-To” by Brewer & Shipley.
What a feelin’ spring is bringin’ round my head
Makes me feel glad that I’m not dead"

I feel the pain and sadness of the universe far more than I would like, but I also feel ecstacy and awe at its wonders.

Once In A Lifetime Talking Heads

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
wife
And you may ask yourself-Well…How did I get here?

Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…

Pink Floyd, “Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict”

Feelin’ Alright–Joe Cocker

so, Biffy, is it “Mary” or “Back”? While we’re at it, “Submarine” or “Summery”?

'hokay, I thought of a new one that would describe me. Interstate Love Song, by STP, in honour of all the online people I meet that lie, and otherwise fall short of my hopes :frowning:

I’m firmly in the “Mary” camp. I wasn’t even aware of the submarine/summery controversy; I’ve always heard the former. I’ll have to check it out when I get home. Cheers!

“Favorite Things” from Incubus’s S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album:

“Too bad the things that make you mad are my favorite things…”

Sums up my divorce nicely.

Either, “Intruder” by Peter Gabriel or “Isao Tomita - Neptune the Mystic”

Isn’t that Chuck Berry? Or did Louis cover it?

I don’t know how anyone wrote 'Desperato" without meeting me first.

  • The Queen of Diamonds let you down, she was just an empty fable.
The Queen of Hearts you claim you never met.
Your twisted fate has found you out and it’s laid you on the table.
They stole your dreams and paid you with regret. *

I have a few.

One of which is the Five for Fighting song Superman.

But, more than anything, I think I’d have to say Mess by Ben Folds Five:

“And I don’t believe in God, so I can’t be saved
All alone, as I’ve learned to be
In this mess I have made”

I am a hoipolloi skater boi who was rejected by a snobbish girl. Sadly, I can’t think of any songs of relevance. :stuck_out_tongue:
