What songs get you on the dancefloor?

I want to be specific here, when i say “you” i mean your family and friends.

What gets the whole lotta you on the dancefloor on a night out?

Is it related to school/college memories?

A local phenomenon?

Your age?

For example, in Dublin a DJ will play Black street’s “No Diggity” to get them dancing, in Belfast they’ll play something bouncy by Ash.
and EVERYBODY gets up for Blur’s Song2.

my friends and i ALWAYS get up for a certain cheesy teeny pop song (it’s “Don’t stop movin” by S club 7, if you must know) because it reminds us of dancing around europe when we backpacked.

i’m assuming we ALL dance to YMCA, it’s raining men, and hot stuff?

or is that just me…

Margaritas on the rocks get me out on the dance floor…
Also, “Dancing Queen,” “1999,” “Come on Eileen” “Safety Dance,” “Hey Mickey,” and anything by Madonna. Actually, it’s not hard to get me out on the dance floor.

I don’t dance;)

YMCA !

The B52s’ “Love Shack.”

After my wife and I danced to Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon,” as our first dance at our wedding, we made sure “Love Shack” was next.

It doesn’t take much to get me on the dancefloor, but “Knock on Wood” usually sends me into a frenzy!

“Rosalita” by Springsteen (see “songs that rock” thread)

Lots of Stones, esp. “Satisfaction” or “Start Me Up.”

The live version of Joe Cocker doing “Feelin’ All Right.”

Yeah, I am in my 40s – how could you tell?

Any others like them…I am apparently completely non-consistent

[sheepish smile] I guess I dance a lot. [/sheepish smile]

um, “Nutbush City” and “Bus Stop” cos they’re the only two dances I know!

Funnily enough, Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams. My and my buddies have some real fond memories of that song.

“In the Mood”

I keep an ear out for “Stuck In The Middle With You.”
