In Curse of the Golden Flower (2006 Film), face branding is mentioned as a punishment. One of the forbidden city workers has one, and it looked like a symbol from the Chinese ‘Alphabet’ (I know it’s not an actual Alphabet).
What symbols were used? Or maybe it was some other symbol. Was it like the equivalent of a scarlet ‘A’?
