What teen martial arts spoof movie did I see part of?

About a month ago, while we were on vacation, I happened to catch about 20 minutes or so of what was obviously an Epic Movie/Not Another Teen Movie/Scary Movie type of parody of Karate Kid type films. Good-looking but loserly teen guy being raised by a sensei or something, Asian-American love interest whose thug Caucasian boyfriend hassles the good-looking loserly teen guy, etc. The scenes I saw were one where the sensei/guardian teaches the kid to use his ki, then we see him at school using his ki to open the locker(s) that the Asian-American girl can’t get open. She recognizes what he did and invites him to her party. Next scene is the kid dressing for the party and going out the door just as the sensei/guardian brings in a cake for the kid’s birthday. At the party, he’s confronted by Caucasian asshole boyfriend and his thug buddies and beats them without actually laying a hand on them (and destroys the Caucasian asshole boyfriend’s car in the process). That’s about all I saw.

Oh, and the Asian-American love interest practically lives in a castle. It was a NIIICE house.

Random half-remembered guess: Dragonball Evolution?

I do believe that’s the one, Grumman! Thanks!

I can’t believe that was the live-action Dragonball movie. Were they actually going for “spoof”? Or was it just so bad that it went straight there without them needing to try?

It’s been a while since I saw it, but I don’t think they were going for a spoof. It was a live action anime cartoon. They did a lot of things that are very commonplace in the cartoons that look really silly when done by a real person, such as laughing and abruptly stopping with their mouths hanging open. I can see why it would look like a spoof unless you’re familiar with the series.
