What the heck is that song?!

There is a super funky song I remember from the early 80’s that started with a HUGE LOUD motorcycle being kickstarted and revved up before launching into the song.

It was funky “Ohio Players” or “Lakeside” type tune (tho’ I don’t know if it’s either of them). I don’t know the title or any of the words only that it was “super funky”. Any help appreciated.

I don’t consider it “super funky”, but Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher”, off of their album 1984, begins with a Harley starting up, and then fades into a drum cadence by Alex Van Halen.

I don’t consider this song funky either, but Twisted Sister’s cover of Leader of the Pack also starts with a motorcycle revving up.

You might want to look through a Prince discography. I think he’s into motorcycles; they may have played prominently into a few of his songs. And, of course, he’s got “funk.”

Just wanted to add my two cents here.

Probably not what you are after but Motley Crue began Girls, Girls, Girls with motorcycle sounds.

I’m pretty certain I know exactly the song you’re thinking of, there’s a bar I go to that plays that song all the time. It’s not any of the above mentioned songs, but I can’t think of the name of it. If it helps anyone else, the song kind of reminds me of “You Dropped a Bomb On Me” by the Gap Band, but that isn’t it. At any rate, I’m pretty sure someone will know it before long; if not, I’ll be able to tell you what it is in a day or two when I hear it again, as I’m sure I will.

Ah, I think I got it. It actually is the Gap Band–the song is “Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)”.

That’s It!!! Thanks Muchly!!!
