What the heck just happened to my Netscape?

Alright, here’s what happened:

I get home from running an errand, start netscape, it seems like it kind of reset itself or something. All of my personal bookmarks are gone, the location bar is now clear (it doesn’t automatically finish adresses of common sites when I type a few letters), and all links are shown as unvisited (even ones I used just before I left). The weirdest thing is that it now has just one personal bookmark for “SE440BX-2 Motherboard Driver Updates” that takes me to the following site http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/se2/se2_drive.htm I’m not absolutely sure that bookmark wasn’t there before, I’m not the only person using this computer, but I really don’t think it was there. I am sure however, that no one used the computer when I was gone.

While I was gone, wich was for about 30-45 minutes, my computer was connected to the internet, and I was downloading a song through Scour.

Any ideas on what happened? There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with anything else, and I can easily redo my bookmarks, but I’m kind of worried about a virus or something. I’d be glad to hear from anyone else who may be able to shed some light on this.

Thanks

That’s weird. But backup your bookmarks often. I do. Also, get IE 5.0, its free. Use them both.

Ie can import the netscape bookmarks.

I’ll take a wild guess and say you’re running Windows.

I have a lot of strange Netscape problems, though minor compared to what you had. Have you tried powering down and restarting yet? If you have, and Netscape looks the same, I guess you’re S.O.L. Either way, like handy sez, backup your boohmarks.htm, prefs, liprefs, secmod.db, and Pab.na2 (your address book if you use Netscape mail). They’ll probably all fit on a floppy.

I like Netscape better than IE, but I’m convinced that Windows screws with Netscape. If a site constantly locks up in Netscape, and I try with IE, I never have a problem. Hmmmm.
