Here’s how his “energy independence” page starts out:

It sounds pretty centrist and boilerplate to me. He doesn’t appear to be saying, “quit doing solar and wind” either.

As for what specific Obama-era policies he’d change, at least on it’s surface, it appears to be a pretty precise list:

• opening onshore and offshore leasing on federal lands and waters
• streamline the permitting process for all energy projects
• rescind the coal mining lease moratorium [&] the excessive Interior Department stream rule
• eliminate the highly invasive “Waters of the US” rule
• scrap the $5 trillion dollar Obama-Clinton Climate Action Plan and the Clean Power Plan

the idea that he’s got no policy positions and is just an empty suit with a meaningless slogan isn’t reality, it’s not fact-based, it’s just a figment of leftists’ imaginations.

So, it looks to me like the statements are in conflict. Either you protect our clean water or you let extractor dump their shit in it. I have a hard time seeing how you can have it both ways.

It leaves me wondering how ramped-up coal production fits in there. Maybe the coal miners will be paid to dig the stuff up and it’ll quietly be loaded on barges and dumped in the ocean.

That’s actually not a half-bad idea! Permanent carbon sequesterization with no lost jobs. Eventually, Appalachia will be entirely smoothed out from mountaintop removal and we can build something useful there.

It means returning the US to a time when heterosexual, christian white males were the pinnacle of society, and their rule as the natural leaders was firmly accepted by the rest of society. Women were submissive, gays were in the closet, blacks kept in their ghettos, latinos were in mexico. None of them were competing for jobs that a white male could do, women and minorities were locked out of the good jobs and the powerful positions. It is a lashing out at the loss of total power, and having to share that power with women, minorities, and other groups.

A society before empowered blacks, latinos, educated women, LGBTs, etc were running around freely and giving orders. They had to endure 8 years of a black democrat giving them orders, now they almost had to face 4 years of not only a woman giving them orders, but Hillary Clinton as that woman.

Also a return to the time when a person with a high school education could get you a good, reliable job.
