What The Hell Is Going On At Our Military Academies?

This page contains several articles about rape cases at the Air Force and Naval academies over the past few years. 54 cases at the AF Academy alone? WTF?

The most recent article concerns two Prince Charmings accused of raping three women at the Naval Academy. They have tendered their resignations and their lawyer has stated that he believes this will close the case against them. This seems to equate to saying “Well, gee, we’re sorry we forced these women to submit to forceable sex, but since we said ‘we’re sorry’, everything is now hunky dory. But man, that second chic made me hot when she whimpered ‘please stop’.”

The more disturbing aspect of this whole sordid mess is that it gets almost zero press. This article was buried in the page links for CNN and is nowhere to be found on the front pages I could find, including my local paper. Is this some sort of governmental news suppression conspiracy designed to avoid tarnishing the military in these days of saber rattling? Color me totally disgusted.

Wow.

Actually, a google search of “naval academy rape” shows that this story has been run in many news outlets across the country. I really don’t think it’s a media blackout or anything like that.

I do concede that, considering the number of alleged rapes over the past years, the story isn’t getting as much air time as it probably should. I didn’t know the numbers were so high, and this is effectively “local” news for me, considering that the Naval Academy is just down the road in Annapolis.

The Naval Academy’s website boasts about the school’s Rape Aggression Defense training course. Perhaps they also need to spend more time educating the fuckheads who think it’s OK to do this sort of thing.

According to my sister, who happens to be a female cadet at the AF academy, there are some false accusations fluttering about, and also “He smacked my ass - oh my god, I was raped!” type things. However, she (my sister) also gets incredibly pissed off that it’s getting any press. Feh, I say. It’s our tax money giving you your free education, we have the right to know.

And the first public accusations at the AFA were somehow brought out when 20/20 offered a few female cadets moolah for their story of woe and misery. Double feh.

The rape scandal at the Air Force academy was major news when it broke over a year and a half ago. Where were you then?
