So yet another rape case turns out to be a false accusation. (Daily Mail alert.)
False accusations like this do real harm to women, making much harder for a real accusation to be taken seriously.
The thing is, how do actual rape involving a single incident and a non celebrity get prosecuted successfully?
I think the best bet would be to tackle the issues of why people (specifically men) rape women. Prosecution seems extremely difficult but should be sought.
Well, this article seems to be a terrible source and is not really backing up its claims with any evidence.
That said, what few details surround the case are sketchy as fuck, from my view. Here’s an interesting HuffPo article about why the media shied away from covering it.

Yeah, I see nothing in that article that supports a firm “it was a lie.” A Daily Mail exclusive from a source familiar with the case amounts to an off the record interview with Bat Boy on the front page of the Weekly World News.
From what I hear, she hasn’t recanted; but has declined to press charges due to death threats. Doesn’t mean she was lying.
Or maybe somebody dropped off a dump truck full of money at her house.
I don’t believe it. That would mean Trump actually paid someone.

She claimed she was raped, she claimed there were death threats. Basically same level of evidence/credibility to both claims. It hasn’t been proven she is lying about either thing, nor that death threats if any had anything to do with Trump.
But IMO this sort of situation is the reason that there’s been a media code of conduct not to report on accusations by sketchy people who offer no actual proof. The fact that the accusers are women, or the accusations relate to sex, or the target of the accusation is known to be a person of low character otherwise, shouldn’t matter IMO. Now in the internet age there’s always an outlet, web or other, which will report this kind of stuff, but I don’t think it’s progress, and definitely don’t blame the ‘MSM’ for ignoring this story.
I don’t know the facts. I do wish there was a trial. Calling her a liar because she dropped the charges isn’t anymore logical than automatically calling a man a rapist because someone brings charges.
None of us know the facts. Journalists who have tried to uncover the facts have been shut down at every turn. At this point, there is absolutely no way to evaluate the claims one way or another. And given the sketchy details, I don’t blame the media for not touching it.
If I had to WAG I’d say she really was raped at that convicted pedophile’s party, but is probably mistaken that it is Trump who raped her. I don’t actually know, though. Nobody does.
