I remember the first time I saw a ‘Lectric Shave’ commercial. It was in cartoon form ( animated ) and I remember it cracked me up.
It’s a toss-up between Good ‘n’ Plenty and Dr. Ross Dog food. I think it’s because they both had catchy songs:
Once upon a time there was an engineer
Chew chew Charlie was his name we hear
He had an engine, and he sure had fun
He used Good ‘n’ Plenty candy to make his train run
Charlie says: Love my Good ‘n’ Plenty
Charlie says: Really rings the bell
Ding Ding!
Charlie says: Love my Good ‘n’ Plenty
Charlie says: Don’t know any other candy that I love so well.
Get Dr. Ross dog food and do him the favor
It’s got more meat and it’s got more flavor
It’s got more meat to make him feel the way he should
Dr. Ross dog food is doggone good
Woof woof!
It was sung by an animated Scottie dog.
Oh, and the obligatory local ad for Troy Upholstery. The owner’s creepy son sang the ad song accompanying himself on an electric guitar: Troy Troy What a joy. Get all you upholstery done at Troy … etc. All I remember.

I recently found an old bank of the building with a rabbit next to it at a vintage store in Venice.
My wife worked as a dental assistant in the North End. She’s worked on “Anthony”'s teeth. He was all grown up by then.
They did an updated commercial with the grown-up Anthony. Only they didn’t really – they got an actor instead. Real grown-up Anthony didn’t get to be in the new commercials
