We’d be 7:53 PM now if then-P.M. Thaksin had had his way, imposing year-around “savings time” so that impatient stock traders in Hong Kong or Singapore wouldn’t ignore Bangkok’s 1-hour later opening. (Plan was not adopted, as it required schoolchildren to go to school in the dark in time to clear the traffic jams for brokers and bankers.)
