What to put in my Slider Surprise!

Trying to get maximum grilling time in before summer is over and also not repeat too much. Sometime this week I’ve decided to make surprise sliders. I’ll get some King Hawaiian rolls and use the cute slider mold I got as a present. Inside each slider will be a surprise. An edible* surprise for all you wiseacres. I got the basics covered. Sharp cheddar, mozzarella and Monterey Pepper Jack already on hand. Thinking pickled jalapeno or roasted garlic or a piece of fresh tomato. . … Is it me or does the juice inside of a tomato get a thousand times hotter than all of its surroundings? Bread and butter pickle? Pickle relish?

What do you think would be a tasty surprise in a Slider Surprise?

Yes. Definitely.

Olive sauce.

The only thing I’d add to that recipe would be a dash of chili powder. The ratio of mayo to olives is debatable (I prefer more olives, finely minced), but it needs to be slightly runny (from the olive brine), so it can drip off the burger. It’s a west Michigan thing; my wife is convinced I moved us out here for this alone. If you’re not sure about it, trying it on a slider would be a nice way to sample it without committing to a full-blown olive burger.

“Crunchy Frog” is edible. Stay away from the “Spring Surprise” though.

Oh, like YOU weren’t thinking it

I never got into flavored burgers. I tried bacon bits inside a burger, and it just turned it all into weakly-bacon-tasting meat, ruining the flavor of the ground beef AND the bacon. I would think a strong cheese would be needed to really flavor a burger. Mozzarella sounds too weak.

I remember a restaurant serving an “Al Capone” pizza. Hidden somewhere under the mild cheese was a very hot piece of pepper; the “bullet”.

I’d personally love to have cheese of some form and jalapenos in a burger or slider, but those would be my favorite burger toppings too.

Tomato does seem to heat up a lot internally. Putting a tomato slice in the sliders would seem like putting a little thermal bomb inside.

Your tongue is now peeling. Surprise!

Snake surprise?

Cat food.

Surprise!

(Actually, today I bought gooshy cat food… and Ritz crackers. :stuck_out_tongue: )
