Autumn of last year, a group of young film students chose the hospital where I work to film a heart transplant segment for the short film, “He Got Soul” http://www.hegotsoul.com/
Well, because I served as a “quasi” medical advisor and have a short walk-on, the film’s director, Kip Casto, thought enough of me to invite me to its first screening here in Atlanta at a place called 255 Tapas Lounge.
Kip just sent us an e-mail and in part, this is what it says:
“Just to let everyone know, this is a classy event. So come stylish! show us what you got…”
Y’all, I’m 59 and the last time I wore anything “stylish” was at my senior prom back in '68 (last century).
I love these kids and the message this film sends is a great one - simple but great - I wanna dress up for them if I can, but I’m just used to scrubs or jeans, and I sure could use some help!
IANAD Yeah, but my date is gonna be dressed to kill and I don’t think she’d appreciate it,** DMark **:D.
Also the attire is stylish/classy, and there’s nothing about scrubs (i.e. my work clothes - with stains and vital statistics written on the legs in ball point pen) that can be described as anything but comfortable.
Besides, you wouldn’t want me to stand out like that proverbial “turd in the punchbowl” wouldya, bro?
As long as everyone else isn’t going to be wearing a tux, I think your planned outfit will be fine. I will suggest that you go with a darker wash for the jeans, though. The dark indigo looks a good bit dressier and would (to me, anyway) be a lot better for the event.
