Well if we ever meet we’ll have a lot in common to talk about (though my stripping has suffered since they upped my medication).
And I work where?
I’m pretty sure no one is as interested in Bulgaria as I am. (And even I am not all that interested in Bulgaria.)
Try reading the posts that have “Moderator Notes:” in the title next time.
Surely everybody loves me, and they think my posts are a delight that brightens their day!
But if on the small chance this were not true, they may be annoyed at me because I don’t have a satisfyingly rational reason for my intense fiery hatred of Quentin Tarantino. I have gone off about him several times in the past, but try not to do it too much anymore, even though it is my first instinct whenever his name comes up.
Mine are probably:
Being the mom of a toddler
My hatred of Rachael Ray
Being a recovering addict
Having had gastric bypass surgery
And my attempt to bond with the Canadian Dopers by mentioning that I grew up near the border (I use codewords like “touque” and “poutine”)
Oh, and I also suspect that some are annoyed when I go a little too far with TMI.
Liberal, everyone else here is posting about things I’m not tired of, with the consideration that they’d stop if we all were tired of it. Your post is something I am tired of hearing about, and it sounds like you’ll keep doing it no matter what anyone thinks.
How do you know I’m not a stripper?
Oops, sorry. I must have missed the gist of the OP. I apologize and will withdraw.
Are you both the things you mentioned? Do you post about them frequently?
C’mon, what is with this thread? Liberal’s post was responsive to the OP.
I see why you don’t see that as a problem, then…
Eclecticism as fine as long as you’re substantive, memorable, and quotable. That’s what builds reputations and makes Dopers remember you.
It’s just a lot easier if they associate you with a few salient topics, positions, or posts. It’s a big board and there’s a lot of white noise. I find I can get above it for a few posts or sometimes a thread, but that’s all.
I made a point of reading the author before I read the post. There were no instances where I could guess what you thought you were being tiresome. In some cases, what you thought was tiresome was my reason to check out what you had to say (I’m looking at you, lalenin).
Regards,
Shodan
PS - Bush did not lie about Iraq, Clinton was not impeached for a blow job, Clinton’s aides did trash the White House, and there is no credible evidence of widespread election fraud in 2004.
I don’t see anywhere in the OP that you should only mention topics that Robot Arm doesn’t find annoying. Your post was perfectly on topic.
I thought about this thread as I was driving my young daughters home last night in my SUV. They looked so cute in the back seat partially because my multi-millionaire inlaws keep them stocked up with the finest clothes. It isn’t hard because my wife is one of the foremost cheese experts in the U.S. and travels the world constantly and can buy things that regular Americans don’t have.
As I pulled into the driveway, I noticed that one of our chimneys needs some repair. That is what you get when you buy a pre-Revolutionary War House and completely restore it over 6 years working night and day. You are never really finished. I always thought that doing something tangible like that was a nice contrast with going to an Ivy League graduate school in neuroscience. I couldn’t help but think that a chimney repair might cut into my budget for flying lessons. I am a perpetual flight student you see.
As much as I love my real New England colonial house, I always envisioned myself owning a Louisiana plantation home. That is my home state and I am deeply Southern probably because my ancestry and last name come from the 1st colony at Jamestown.
Sorry to digress. I never did figure out a relevant response to this thread.
Oh god, where to begin?
Well first, I think people are tired of hearing of my perfectly sculpted abs. And how handsome I am in general. I think it’s my modesty that really gets people, though–god, would that guy just shut up about his devil-may-care grin and chiseled jaw? Really, we’ve heard enough about how this titan of a man with a heart of gold single-handedly prevented a burning bus from careening off a hill with the power of love.
I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused you.
…
But no, really. I think people roll their eyes when they hear “free market” from me. My “opt-in” government really got some eye-rolls. Maybe people are tired of hearing me criticize religion and saying we shouldn’t respect stupid ideas even if they’re “religious.” But I’m not backing off of that one.
Heh, I’m just now in Tokyo, and I wondered if I should start a thread asking people for advice, or if I should just send you a PM
But then I thought, well, you don’t know me because all I ever do is post about Germany, ack! Since I’m not in the US, I’m usually late to threads about my favorite TV shows (that, and I hate the way TV threads usually devolve into a discussion about the discussion and have to resist the temptation to randomly jump in the thread and yell MUSTACHEMAN MUSTACHEMAN MUSTACHEMAN or some such). Plus, I don’t really have a field of expertise in anything.
Guns, especially as used in self-defense.
It’s not even as if I’m an expert, but it seems some days you can’t even make the mildest, most timid recommendation in favour of Linux, without being perceived as a rabid evangelist.
So I sometimes get the feeling people might like it if I were to shut up about Linux. This is not going to happen, of course.
