What Trans Would You Like To Be?

Perhaps he really wants to be trans-endental.

I want to be transcontinental, because like ZZ Top I’m bad, I’m nationwide.

You know what? I can sympathize with the OP. I’m an older guy also.

I grew up in a time when black people were considered inferior to white people and women were considered inferior to men. The attitudes towards homosexuals and transgendered people were even worse.

I lived through black rights, women’s rights, gay rights and now trans rights and every one of them was an adjustment. I realize the “struggle” I faced was nothing compared to the struggle these people faced. But recognize I had to work also and change the way I looked at the world and other people.

It might have been easier to just cling to the beliefs I grew up with. I could have decided I was right and the world was wrong. But I decided instead that if the world was changing I was going to try to keep up and change with it. If I can learn how to program a VCR, and surf the internet, and use a smart phone, I can learn how to respect people I used to treat like jokes.

I like to think I’ve grown into a better person and not just an older person.

My eyes just kind of glazed over. I saw it as a bunch of word salad trying to sound intellectual.

This is horrible. I fully support the transfat community. They should be allowed everywhere. Except the military, of course . We shouldn’t let transfatties in the military, just cisfatties.

I’m Trans-Love Airways. I get you there on time.

Can I just be transitive, so no matter what you try to substitute, there I am.

Hey, we Canadians do NOT talk funny! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thought I had…is he not saying that who you feel yourself to be is who you really are, and we should be able to understand and respect those feelings of others?

Well, that’s how I took it.

I’d like to be Trans-12mgdaily so I could apologise for all the dumb shit in your OP.

Yes, exactly right, thank you.

All of my extra words and quotes were just me trying to preemptively give cited support for my beliefs vs the common points of contention to trans-acceptance.

We all tend to take the “face value” of things as true, and any further clarification/nuance we are made aware of later is seen in a suspicious light. We read in what we want and are not charitable in our interpretations, when we should be.

Thus when people see an “obviously male or female” and are later told that they are in fact the other, or we go on a date with a lovely lady and later find out she has a penis, or see a post on a message board that can be taken in an ignorant light, we feel confused/suspicious and betrayed and attack the “offender” (the victim).

Even after 12mgdaily clearly stated that his intent of the thread was purely humorous, and meant to be read in a sarcastic voice, people still continued their old “sniping posts” rather than apologizing and learning for future reference that all posts/people should be approached from a charitable angle and read in a charitable/friendly manner. We are all friends here, right? No one would actually start a thread looking for a fight, just a friendly discussion or misinterpreted joke thread at worst.

It’s difficult to understand the workings of the mind even under the beat of circumstances. In this completely black and white format, devoid of facial expressions and inflections of the voice, it is challenging really know what people are trying to convey. It really is my honest opinion that we should all be able to be whatever we deeply feel inside. And as long as that desire doesn’t come at the expense of harming another, we should all offer acceptance.

See his apology and clarification?

Now to play along with the intent of the thread, I would want be a Translater, not to be confused with a person who bridges communication gaps -a translator- I am too lazy for that. I always want to start my translation career mañana, tomorrow or the day after. I will get around to it later.

You think most of us couldn’t see the sarcasm? You think it’s a “joke” that he said this:

Bogus, fictitious, phony, and false. That’s our “trans” world.

I certainly don’t see an apology. Nor do I see a reply to the excellent question from oft wears hats above.

I want to be a trans woman. No wait shit that’s a dumb answer sorry.

I thought I would take a look at the illustrious OP’s history to see if this was all a big misunderstanding. I found this:

Gosh, he’s just so misunderstood.

I had also interpreted TipTapTwo’s post as providing some scientific evidence that questions the binary nature of gender, and suggesting that transgender people aren’t simply expressing a fickle or trivial preference. As in, supporting transgender rights.

Yup. I remembered that post you quoted and interpreted the OP with that context in mind. Perhaps many of the other sniping posters did as well.

To be fair, the OP hasn’t returned to this thread since I asked my question. I’m interested to see their response.

As it happens, our former neighbors were a family whose last name was Tran, and so it was common in our house to refer to their pet as the Trans’ cat. After a while it occurred to me that that might sound odd or disrespectful out of context.

Would this make Pamela Isley a “transplant?”

Doesn’t it just crack you up when people don’t understand how the search function works? It’s like their own words aren’t even here, man.

Perhaps 12mgdaily is not following the directions in his/her user name.

Transplanetary. Because earth is too full of stupid people.
