What TV Shows do you wish were still on the air?

My very first pointless topic! Yea for me!

Seriously folks, what shows do you miss, or wish hadn’t been canceled by number-crunching TV execs? I am curious, because it seems ever new show I like, with one or two exceptions has already bitten the dust this season!

“The universe doesn’t give first warnings or second chances”

Hill Street Blues
Twin Peaks
The Prisoner

I miss Camp Runamuck.

[I *believe* the Prisoner ran its limited course, rather than was “canceled.” I think Patrick McGoohan would have preferred that the series be about half as long as it was, as he considered many of the episodes to be padding. If I remember right.]

Okay, way obvious: Seinfeld.
Also, TV Nation. That show was much too awesome to be on network television for very long, apparently.

Barney Miller – yes, I know it faded in its last two years, but assuming these shows would be as they were at their best
The Bob Newhart Show – the first one, of course
Roseanne – when it was good, it was the best show on TV
Hill Street Blues
The Highlander

Catrandom

Twilight Zone
Rocky & Bullwinkle

Max Headroom (the drama, not the interview show) – still the first (and best) cyberpunk TV show.

Soap – still one of the most consistently funny shows around.

Shared pain is lessened; shared joy is increased.

Family Guy - FOX should be slapped upside the head for cancelling this show

Cheers.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Wonder Years.

Coldfire

“You know how complex women are”

  • Neil Peart, Rush (1993)

Tracey Ullmann’s Show on Fox (I don’t get HBO) and thirtysomething.

Herman’s Head.

Dopeler effect:
The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

Earth 2 - if you haven’t seen it check out the reruns on Sci-Fi. Had the potential to be one of the best sci-fi shows ever, but died an early death.

Beans Baxter. Or at least I wish they’d filmed a final episode instead of dissapearing.

And a 2nd for Herman’s head. That was one of the funniest shows on TV, but I think it just flew by some people.

Northern Exposure
Melrose Place
Get a Life
Seinfeld
Twightlight Zone
Amazing Stories
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Monsters
Herman’s Head (Hi UncleBeer  )
St Elsewhere
Friday the 13th (Remember that one? Not Freddy Kruger, but the antique shop.)

Oh yeah, and Married With Children

Quantum Leap
Star Trek: DS9
Wings
Six Million Dollar Man
My Favorite Martian

Gilligan’s Island–I wanna see if the survivors cooked and ate the Skipper and the Howells when they died.

I love a show called United States. It starred Helen Shaver and Martin Mull. No background music,no laugh tracks, just a couple going through daily life. It was great!

Parker Lewis Can’t Lose
The Great Defender

(both on Fox a few years back)

But all of these shows ARE on TV! Syndication, baby!!

And IMHO, most TV shows start to suck after a while, and even the shows that went out on top creatively (if not commercially) would have most likely started to suck as well if they would have stayed on any longer.
