I have a rather large (and sadly, empty of cashymoney) wallet, it’s one of those oversized, zips-closed dealies, since it has plenty of extra storage space, I’ve taken to carrying some nonstandard items in it…
there’s a Fenix E01 AAA LED flashlight in the spine
there’s a spare sawblade from my Leatherman Surge in one of the right subpockets
a spare car key sits above that, makes it impossible to lock myself out of my car
in the left subpocket I have a Boker Wharcom folding knife tucked away
below the Wharcom I have four different sized band-aids
now, all I need to do is find a super-low-profile firesteel (ferrocinium rod) and I’ll have a true “Survival Wallet!”
Evidently, they give it to you when your child is born. I haven’t the foggiest idea what to do with it. I don’t have a safe deposit box or a safe. Maybe the freezer? They didn’t tell me.
Lots of band-aids. My kids are always scraping their knees or getting stubbed toes, so I carry a bunch in my wallet.
When other kids get hurt, I usually offer them one, and their moms are glad to have them, although they always look at me as though it is unusual to have a selection of band-aids in ones wallet.
A punch card from the Teahouse Express in Katy, Texas. Which is unusual because I only go there once a year when I visit Texas. I buy a drink when I visit the mall it’s in. For every ten drinks you buy, you get one free.
I got my first free one three years ago and I’ve got two punchs towards my second free one. Which I should be enjoying in 2019 at my current schedule.
A 2 year old Subway coupon for a Subway in London.
I got it while I was studying there, and I never used it…I’ve kept it in my wallet ever since cuz it’s a fun story to tell for people who stumble upon it, and it’s a fun (albeit bittersweet) memory for me.
Copy of the XRAY showing my SS shoulder so I can get past the TSA asshats at airports.
Real cash money. ( In this day and age, the horror.)
Pilots license, A&P mechanics license, CCW permit for this state. (Yeah, I’m packin.)
Serenity & third step prayer. 17 year AA medallion.
All necessary paper work for my motor sickles.
Small Allen wrench for the one mirror that gets lose regularly.
Pictures, CC cards DL , all the usual.
I have them from Prague and Dubai as well. They seem to be global as I have redeemed one in the US that has stamps from Dubai and Prague on it. I also just found a boarding pass VIE-AMM from last October (16B for the curious).
Do the obits for my parents and my best friend qualify?
(Well, I imagine it would be more unusual if someone else were to have the obits for MY parents and best friend in THEIR wallets …)
I came in to say that I have two current driver’s licenses (NSW and Ohio), but I see that I’m already beaten on that point.
I also have:
$105 in Australian money
$60 in Canadian money
$142 in US money
A green card (permanent resident card)
A Washington Metro fare card with a picture of Barack Obama on it
A membership card in the NSW Branch of the Australian Labor Party
I work in a lab that does DNA parentage testing, and people are always producing those things to see if we can use them. We don’t, and why would we when a fresh sample is so easily obtained? Perhaps in an extreme situation like a criminal case, someone might want it…
Weirdest thing I’m carrying about at the moment is a retractable tape measure.
A tiny laminated copy of my doctorate diploma that they gave me when I got my degree. It’s actually come in useful – it helped get me into Harvard’s Widener Library.
A polarizer, which I use to check the poloarization of halos and other optical phenomena
A couple of dollar bills with tracking numbers on them that some internnet site started. Of course, by keeping them in my wallet I’m pretty much subverting the intent of the trackers.
