What videogame system should I buy?

Playstation 2, X-box, or Gamecube?

I have an N64, which i hate, and i want to get me a new one. But which? What do you think?

try searching for ‘xbox’ in IMHO as we are talking about this sort of thing there. That doesn’t mean we suggest the xbox just a way to show you the topics.

Since you are asking for opinions, I’ll move this to IMHO for you

PLAYSTATION 2 LOL

X-BOX IS HUGE AND WON’T EVEN FIT IN YOUR HOUSE!!!

GAMECUBE IS FOR KIDZ!!! LOL!!!

ROFL!!!

GET A DREAMCAST LMAO!!!
Seriously, though, you shouldn’t take anyone’s personal opinion. You should look at a plethora of reviews, or just buy the console that has the games you’d like to play. If necessary, rent the consoles before deciding.

I’ve played them all and personally, I think the PS2 has the brightest future. The Gamecube will probably succeed in the same way the N64 did, and the X-Box is anyones guess. I think it’ll do quite well, too.

But, if I had to pick one, and one only, it’d be a PS2.

Personally, I think for the price Dreamcasts are a must buy. You can buy them for $70CDN now. Hell, I think I’ll go get another one just 'cause. Sure, they’re abandoned now but they are a great little box

Get a PS2. It has the biggest library of games of the three systems, between those that have been released for it in the year that it’s been out and the hundreds of Playstation games also playable on it. GameCube would come next in my list, because the games look the most interesting and playable. I have yet to hear anything good about the X-Box – the controller’s too big, it overheats too easily, it’s heavy and bulky and generally sucks. That, and it’s Microsoft. ::shudder::

I bought an Xbox. I’m very happy with it. The controllers are comfortable and easy to use (not like the little ones made for kids’ hands), it comes with a huge hard drive built in and a rigid construction (frankly I’d have a harder time finding a spot for the gamecube), the controllers have long cords on them so the console can stay by the TV and I can sit on the couch, and it comes with four controller ports. I have played it all day and then watched a DVD on it and it didn’t even feel warm (unlike my Replay TV, which could make toast). Halo is a must-have game for anyone who likes games. There is also quite a line-up of games to come and it is slated to go online in the spring (which I am really looking forward to, I’ve done linked play on the 'box and it’s phenomenal). To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I wanted a gaming system at all, but I have yet to hear anything bad about it. AND it’s Microsoft, you can’t top that.

I would recommend that you rent each system and look into the future releases of all system to find what appeals to you most. Check the stats and what each system has to offer. Do you want a specific style of games? Do you want a system that has been out a year and has already established a lot of titles? Do you want processor power, memory, and graphics that blow the competitors away? All of these things will be a factor in your decision.

Argh. No offense intended, I’m just getting a wee bit tired of this question.

I like Brunching Shuttlecock’s answer:

Seriously though, I would say: don’t buy one - yet. Wait until after Christmas (sometime in February) and see if prices go down.

You can buy more than one. I have a cheap source for ps2 games so I like that at the moment. Wish I had Blue I could use it to buy at 30% off at Virgin stores, not that any have any systems left:-)
