What was special feb 15, 1946

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing a Vargas pinup girl on a February 1946 calendar. Incidentally, the days correspond to this years calendar.

I noted, that February 15 doesn’t have the date on it; instead it has some odd red symbols…that look like “cyo w” in script.

Does anyone know what this means?

Here is the image of the calendar (if I’ve copied it correctly) it should show the calendar as well as the nice looking red haired lady

Just looked a little closer at some other months. It seems that several months on these calendars in 1946 have the same symbols for the 15th.

What does it mean?

On a couple of other months, it looked like a doodle of a face to me - two eyes, a nose and a moustache. Thislink confirms that - that it’s a doodle of Esky, the Esquire magazine mascot, placed as a reminder to buy the magazine.

Interesting. And it’s not just 1946, I looked at some other calendars and they all have the same marks on the 15th.
