What was that magnetic device that House used?

In the episode with the gangsters House uses a device that apears to be an extreamly powerful electromagnet to remove a figurine from a boys nose. What is the name of that device and where can I buy one?

Given the relationship between House and actual medical practice, I’m gonna go out on a limb, not having seen the ep in question, and say you can probably get one from the Acme Company. Tell 'em Wile E. sent you.

1920s Style Magnetic Extraction Ray?

I remember seeing a training film in high school, way back in the mid-1930’s, that showed an electromagnet used to pull a steel sliver from someon’s eye. I’ve never seen or heard about anything like that since. Googling “medical magnets” gets a bunch of junk about pain relief with magnets.

Wasn’t it just a magnet? Kind of like the ones that you can find at an auto parts store? I saw this one a few weeks ago and I thought that’s what it was. Are you sure you’re not getting it confused with what happened to the prisoner? I thought that the guy had gotten “prison ink” which was supposed to have lots of metal in it and when he went through the MRI it hurt.

He’s talking about the walk-in clinic side-story where the little boy sends a firetruck and a policeman to get out the cat that he stuck up his nose.

(With an episode synopsis such as this, one may well wonder why I do not watch the show…)
