No, I’m not commenting on your thread. I hate it when people use rediculous in place of ridiculous. It must be deliberate, no one is that stupid.
Or as an (annoyingly post-submit-press) after-thought - Most amusingly misspelled word. Same polite requests apply.
It just hit me like a bus! - This thread would have yielded far ‘better’ misspellings if it were refering to usenet posts. some of the spelling on there is amazingly bad - and worse - it’s consistently bad!
(and I almost pressed submit without seeing that I spelled that last word ‘vad’)
Do “gotcha ya” or “fucko off” apply? I was amused, anyway. I think most of the amusement came more from the people reacting to these than the mispellings themselves.
I caught one in the very next thread I read after checking this one.
(‘bored’ was mean to be board. Or was it? Maybe it was deliberate)
“fucko off” amuses me, as I mentioned in the ‘inadvertant funnies’ thread.
There’s a thread in CCC right now in which someone spelled illustration as illitration.
I believe Wildest Bill’s mosquito thread has enough problems in the subject alone to win this contest many times over.

As an ex-English teacher who has a real problem with spelling, how can I do a spell check on this board? Do I have to write it all in Word and then paste, or is there a simpler way?
Yep, cut and paste. When I start getting on a serious posting kick I just leave word open to speed things up. It’s not open right now so if there are any egregious spelling errors in this post blame it on that.

According to dictionary.com, “licence” is a valid variant (mainly British-used) of “license”.
I probably use it, because when trying to remember “practice/practise” I remember “advise/advice” for verb/noun. “Advis/ce” is an easier one to remember because the two words actually sound different, unlike practis/ce and licens/ce.
That was I immediately thought of. To those who did not have the pleasure of knowing Wildest Bill before he was banned, this subject line says it all:
