What was this Deadpool like movie?

Probably 20 years old. A kind of revenge flick. A guy suffers grievous injuries, the recovery from which robs him of an ability to feel pain. I think that was his main “power”. He dressed (iirc) swathed in bandages from head to toe. One of the big scenes had him crash through a window having been swinging from a helicopter. I was thinking it was called Deadman. Search showed lots of Deadmans, but not this one.

Darkman seems to fit at least some of the description.

Kick-Ass?

It’s great.

Yeah, that was it. I didn’t realize it was a series.

At @leahcim said, Darkman fits your description. Although there were sequels, Liam Neeson did not reprise the character and Raimi was credited as an “executive producer” with essentially no creative input.

Stranger

What’s interesting is that in the two sequels the main character was played by Arnold Vosloo, who went on to play The Mummy in Stephen Summers’ two Mummy movies from 1999 and 2001. It also brought back Larry Drake as Durant, who had been pretty obviously killed in the first movie, but, in best pulp movie fashion, got resurrected (“He was in a coma”) for the sequel. Like Bela Lugosi as Ygor in the Universal Frankenstein movies, you can’ keep a good villain down.

IIRC, there was some media attention about Larry Drake playing the villain, because until that point he had been primarily known for his regular role on L.A. Law as Benny, a man with Down’s Syndrome. Many moviegoers were shocked that the actor did not actually have Down’s Syndrome.
