What was this? Something actually nefarious or just profoundly stupid? Or both?

Possibility: “I can’t get this to work. Here, you try it with my card. The PIN is nnnn.”

Then it’s YOUR face on the ATM camera taking money off a stolen card, not the convicted felon’s.

Car washes. In some places, liquor stores. I even remember a drive-through liquor store in Florida many years ago that would serve you a frozen cocktail at the window, although (to take advantage of a loophole, I guess) they’d basically give you a cup filled with margarita or pina colada slushy along a separate bottle of rum - i.e. the tiny ones you get on planes. If you then took it upon yourself to pour the booze into the slushy, well, that wasn’t their responsibility. (Pretty sure they don’t allow the practice at all anymore.)

Drive-thru pharmacies are pretty popular.

In Las Vegas (and maybe in some other areas) they have drive-thru wedding chapels.

They thanked me-after making sure I was indeed a member of their bank. I’m not sure why it was so important to them to ascertain my banking status, though. No free money, however. :frowning:

By knowing your identity, they can just look up your transaction and check the video while you were there.

I still say the dude probably just wanted to withdraw cash with a check and no ATM card - his dialogue certainly points to that.
