What was up with ATL MIL MLB game 5/14/04??

I caught the second half of the game with no audio (Resturant). I understand that MIL used to have the ‘Braves’ Franchise, but last night was just too confusing.

Having lived in Atlanta all my life I had to do a double take.

The oposing teams “Atlanta” and “Braves” for the night, both had the tomahawk in the same style and location. To further confuse matters, Bobby Cox (ATL Manager) kept his “Braves” sports jacket on.

So, granted this game was “retro-esque”, what exactly lead to the game being played that way, and why?

Not sure what your confusion is.
The Braves played in Milw from 53 to 1965. It was throwback night for the Brewers. A promotion to bring more people into the park and a publicity stunt. It worked, you took notice.

Good thing the Braves don’t play Boston. Then they could play as the Boston Red Stockings (their original name) while the Red Sox play as the Pilgrims.

Two of my favorite baseball trivia questions:

What was the original name of the New York Yankees?

The Baltimore Orioles (1901-1902)

What was the original name of the Baltimore Orioles?

The Milwaukee Brewers (1901; they were the St. Louis Browns 1902-1953)

To spell things out, the Brewers were wearing Milwaukee Braves throwback uniforms, with the ‘M’ on their cap, and the “braves” logo on their shirts (complete with potentially offensive drawing of “Brave” on the sleeve), while the Braves were wearing other uniforms that had “Atlanta” written across their chests.

I was sure this was going to be about that horrible call at home plate. The Milwaukee sports newscasters really ate that up.
