Actually, Satan, considering your mindset of late, my first post was to start the thread “Liberal Religions” in Great Debates, much of which was dedicated to Unitarian Universalism.
It was all downhill after that.

After lurking for about an hour (I suck), I began my first thread, which was something about what the hardest language to learn was. I was a lousy lurker, but I did read the entire archive and most of the board in the next couple days.
This was in October 1997. I can’t remember what my first post here was. If you care, you can look it up yourself.

My first post (under my first handle) turns out to have been earlier than I thought.
8-24-99, at 4:28 p.m. central time, in the Abortion Cures Crime! thread. What a putrid sig. I blame too much time on Ain’t it Cool News. Also, I can’t claim conclusively to have killed the thread, but I think a strong case could be made for the idea.

My first post was in GQ. I started a thread called “Who invented this craps, anyway?”
Basically I wanted to know who the guy was that invented a game so complicated that it takes three people to deal it, plus a fourth person to watch the game to make sure the other three don’t screw up, plus the fourth dealer recuperating in the break room…Got quite a few posts in reply to the OP, but never really did get an answer to the question.

Amazingly it appears to have been the 28th thread of all time off AOL(neglecting concurrent ones in other forums). I was unaware of the AOL situation at the time, and thought the board had been more established than that. Odd.
Anyways, its a responce to Cecil’s column of toilet plumes.

Cecil himself commented not once, but twice.
14 people made their only post there.
7 made one of their 2 posts there.
CkDextHaven and JillGat also made early showings.
Squid Viscious, Dr. Jackson, sunbear, Big Iron, DrFidelius, Chef Troy, Nanobyte, and priccar are fairly current regs who made appearances.
I fucked up the HTML in that first post (how embarassing), and I dove in head first with an arrogant rant. Ah well, what can you do? I still think I had a valid point :). No one jumped on me, or yelled at me so blame them for my year long infection of your MB ;).

Entitled “AIDS in the bubble”, was interesting that it recieved a lengthy responce from Cecil, and I am maintaining the impression that I was right and he admitted it, even if he blamed Ed ;).
I started out getting spoiled by Cece’s input.
My first post is gone, as are the neurons that stored what thread it was in. I think it was on animals smelling fear.

I know I have a low post count, but that’s because I’ve been basically lurking around for over a year. Guess I’m just shy…but I remember my first post. I think I tried to start a topic about whether or not you can vacuum-seal human bodies in coffins to preserve them. I don’t recall it getting many replies before slipping into obscurity…
