What Web Browser Do You Use?

Safari. I’m looking at Firefox, but can’t see any clear reason to switch. Very rarely, I used to dust off the last Mac vsn. of IE, but finally decided that reeking p.o.s. wasn’t worth the hard drive space and deleted it for good. I’m much looking forward to Safari vsn. 2.0.

Safari. I love it.

Firefox v 1.0

small hijack, is the search feature of Firefox that opens the panel at the bottom and dynamically searches words as you type new with 1.0? I didn’t notice it before yesterday, and yesterday is when I downloaded 1.0.

Firefox 1.0PR unless IE is needed for a specific site.

Gots to love all the extensions available for Firefox.

Yes I think that’s new to 1.0. Surprised me the first time I hit ctrl-f.

Just upgraded from the pre-release to the full release of Firefox v1.0.

Still use IE occasionally for poorly designed websites that only work with it. Which is why I use the Firefox “IE View” extension.

I’m guessing you won’t get many IE replies to this poll.

Netscape 7.1. Haven’t used IE for anything since I installed it.

Konqueror 3.2.2 (Using KDE 3.2.3) on Debian GNU/Linux 2.6.8.1-386

Safari 1.2 and Camino 0.8 (Mac)

Firefox 1.0 on the PC

FWIW - we use Thunderpird (PC) and Mail (Mac) as our mail clients. Anything to avoid Window$.

Long time Opera user here, using version 7.54 almost exclusively.

I just downloaded Firefox 1.0 and will probably use that on sites that don’t play well with Opera.

Firefox has had the find-as-you-type feature since I started using it (around 0.7, I think) but the bar is new with 1.0.

I love love love find-as-you-type. It’s the coolest thing ever. It’s the #1 reason why I’m addicted to Firefox, which I have on my Mac and my work PC.

Opera 7.6 Preview for most of my surfing.
Firefox 1.0.
Maxthon - my wife’s favourite browser.
IE very rarely.

My main web browser is Shiira, a Mac browser that runs on the Safari engine. I like the interface and behaviors better than Safari itself.

“Use” is a broad term. In addition to Shiira I have the following browsers also installed which I make use of on occasion: Opera, iCab, Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, Netscape, Mozilla-X11, and Internet Explorer. Oh, and Lynx

Safari at home. I’ve tried Firefox and Opera and some others, but I can’t think of anything I want that Safari can’t do. Though it is a bit clunky with Java and Flash; though that could be because my Mac’s a bit old now. Gmail works fine with Safari, just reload when you get the blank screen with the red “loading” in the top right corner.

IE at work, Win NT. Opera just doesn’t feel right.

Firefox 1.0 with tab extensions both home (XP) and at work (NT 4).

Opera 7. I use IE for the two sites I occasionally visit that don’t work in Opera.

I downloaded Firefox 1.0 this morning. I think I’m gonna like it, but it seems a little slow in loading some sites. It has been slow on the SDMB, for instance. I also downloaded Thunderbird but haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

Wow, it seems like most of us only use IE when we have to. (Are you listening Bill?

I guess many of you are forced to use IE at work, and while I am not slamming MS, It’s heartening to see more and more people exploring alternatives.

Thanks for the replies!

Opera (7.54). It’s a modsend.

Surfin’ Safari!

So why is no one admitting they use IE?

Firefox 1.0 Preview Release for OSX.

Every once in a while I use Netscape (the newest version, whatever that is). It’s a little slower but it’s pretty darn reliable.
