People generally don’t have a problem with you disliking a comic strip. I like XKCD and don’t care if you or anyone else doesn’t like it. Hell, I can even see why someone wouldn’t like it.
But when you make up total bullshit out of nowhere, that’s what people are calling you out on. It means people can’t trust the things you say here, and they’re also going to even question your motives. If we know you’re going to lie just to get a rise out of people, which is basically what you did, people are going to write you off as a troll. The fact that your reaction to that is, “Well that’s everyone else’s problem,” that shows that you really don’t get it.
That seems … blinkered.
Reduction of lawsuit liability has never even occurred to my organization, and I believe we are fairly mainstream as non-profit arts and culture organizations go. The context in which we consider DEI or its many variations (IDEA being one of the more clever ones - Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) is at worst bandwagon-jumping and at best a genuine desire to be better at serving our exceptionally varied community.

I’m a comic nerd, strips and books both, and there’s a million strips I’ve read one or two of and dropped them because I didn’t think they were good. Even popular things.
But at the end of the day it’s just a comic strip. Not even a mainstream one it’s readership is very small comparatively speaking I promise. And I to like xkcd.
No one cares about disliking a comic. Honestly no one probably even would have cared if he had made a unsubstantiated assertion based on his own opinion. If it had been left at that this wouldn’t even be an issue. The problem is the completely over the top pushback to the point it’s becoming performative. I can’t even take this seriously. Real people don’t feel like this about something that’s just lines on a screen and a couple of weird jokes.
If you have actual arguments you’d like to make with like cites and examples that would be fantastic. Otherwise my advice to Coldbrew would be to drop this. I’ve seen this a million times if it’s not going to end well.

My post was meant to analyze why he’s acting like a troll and what the problem with his behavior is. I think that’s instructive. If not to him then maybe to others. And I have no expectation that he’s going to take my advice. But yeah he is a troll.
