What were you THINKING?

I had never read of they’re upbringing. I have since.

I saw a bunch of the threads beforehand of they’re household problems and thought , “wow, very young bachelor, college student or just plain dumb”
Now, I understand.

If I was dismissive or hurtful @Velocity I’m truly sorry.

I don’t know anything very much at all about the poster in question, and I had no trouble parsing @needscoffee’s meaning, because I read the whole post for comprehension. But of course it is critical that they should jump through hoops to make sure that YOU didn’t misunderstand their post.

Nope, they have no obligation to do anything. But they did take the time to respond, not in a way that would defuse the matter, and so I also responded, keeping the conversation going. I suppose the exchange was a little testy, but hey, it’s the Pit. No harm no foul as far as I’m concerned. I really appreciated the insights @LSLGuy offered, it cleared matters up for me. @needscoffee chose to respond defensively rather than clarify, which is fine too. I’m sure I’ve done the same sort of thing in the face of what I thought was an annoying/unfounded comment on my posting.

ETA: But they did clarify one thing that helped, which is that Velocity apparently uses China and Taiwan interchangeably in reference to his parents. That I did not know. But it matters.

Once again, despite being called out for doing the same thing countless times, @SuntanLotion again posts an unsubstantiated rumor (this one about Joe Biden) as though it must be true because some anonymous person said so online. And manages to put it in the thread about Hunter Biden’s trial, because near enough?

Apologies. Did you listen to his speech?
Joe Biden is God and I will never blaspheme him again.
Going to self flagellate with my library book.

They have S&M books in your library?

Did you?

Well that escalated quickly.

You’ll note that what you’re being criticized for isn’t “blaspheming Joe Biden” - I mean, blaspheme away - but for posting vague and unsubstantiated statements from a particularly toxic social media site. It makes you look credulous.

What are the “quite a few” lies Biden made in his speech? Do you even know?

It’s difficult to judge whether or not Joe Biden lies in his speeches because he frequently makes gaffes. He’s done it his entire career, going back decades. It’s one of his biggest weaknesses as a politician. You can find fact checks for any number of his speeches that point out inaccuracies.

That’s not the same as lying though. It can be a fine line, but I’ll take someone who screws up during public speaking over a convicted fraudster who has also committed insurrection, violated the Espionage Act, and sexually assaults women.

What petulant nonsense is this? Cite your shit or don’t post your shit. “Some guy on X” isn’t a cite.

I didn’t see the speech. I read the transcript. Seemed pretty legit to me.
I’m sure he stumbled alot. He always does. I have sympathy for his speech issues. I cannot fault him for that.
I believe he wants to halt sales of assault weapons and big magazines. Raise the purchasing age. Make redflag laws that work.
I do not believe he wants to remove peoples rights to have guns. I really wish he could do a limited form of that.
Problem is, I don’t see any of that happening, soon.
I fear there will be much more carnage before it will happen.
If Trump gets back to the Whitehouse, I’m not sure what will happen. I just know it will be bad.

I wouldn’t know, I’m not interested. It is mentioned in a Dan Savage book A-Z sex, something like that.
What number would it be classified under? The 600s maybe.

It Is scary, Beck. I’m afraid my state will go red again.

Yep.

The book is Love from A to Z Dan Savage.

Never read it myself. Not in my library.

I used to Dan’s articles often in The Stranger.

In context, the missing verb is highly concerning.

I’d correct it but you know, I think I prefer the mystery.

I accidentally a whole one, once.

You spouting RW nonsense you don’t even recognize as RW nonsense is probably a great way to assist your state in turning red.

Stay the heck away from political commentary; you’re evidently not qualified to offer a useful opinion.

Yeah, Ohio isn’t turning red, it has been. My fault of course.

How do you think disinformation which convinces people to vote red gets spread?

Surprise, it’s by people spreading false “information”.
