Yeah, I don’t want to get in a slapfight, but I’m not shocked that Jasmine or Gailforce would say such things. To the extent that I understand either of their characters, their posts in that thread seem of a piece.
I’m a little curious why that thread got closed–it was a hot fuckin mess, but the Pit is full of hot fuckin messes–but not curious enough to go over the ATMB to ask. Was it because it was a hot fuckin racist mess?

It was generating a lot of flags, and it was always for stuff that was borderline racist, and after half a dozen times of looking at the thread and thinking, “Well, that’s pretty gross, but I’m not sure if it’s warning gross yet…” I got sick of looking.

Not that I, as the OP control the thread, but to expand on the point that was quoted above, it’s mostly to prevent the disruption of OTHER threads. I named the Troll thread because that’s where it was happening the most at the time, but I thought it useful for the countless threads where someone makes an ass of themselves, and then people start throwing up challenges and barely veiled insults, and then the mods get in and the thread gets stalled, locked, or otherwise dragged off topic.
So you can go HERE, get it out of the way in Pit language, and those threads can go on their main purpose. But it’s intended as a short fix - if anyone truly feels that it’s NOT a moment of poor judgement, a one-off, or someone just making an ass of themselves and doubling down in defense temporarily, it’s time to spin off a dedicated thread. Which has happened here before.
I’m only posting this because I was recently called out (rightly) for putting intents before consequences, so figured I’d clear it up since it was brought up.
Back to the closed thread - I’ll join the chorus who saw the title and went “That’s ugly”, read the OP and felt it was worse, and noped out after the first few posts. I can stretch my brain to understand the POV, but I have absolutely no desire to discuss or defend it. And I’m also glad it’s closed.
I didn’t even read the OP. The title was enough to warn me away.
So I guess I can praise the thread author for at least giving an appropriate title, it helped me at least.

That’s certainly how I’m using it - looked quickly and didn’t find recent dedicated threads for either poster, and didn’t feel like them Karening up one thread deserved dedicated Pit threads just quite yet. Didn’t think either poster had a racist history so felt more appropraite to ask “What were you THINKING?” Although Jasmine is doing her best to prove me wrong, there.

You’re right to call it out here. As I did, albeit indirectly. Not out of a desire to soft-pedal it, just that it had been well covered by others. A “me too” post adds little.
