What were you THINKING?

I hold very strongly the belief that if you have food in your hand and somebody nearby is going hungry, you have a moral obligation to share. (Presuming it isn’t some allergen for them or like that.)

She attacked a homeless person, by giving them food???

Dude…I recognize that this is a personal subject for you, and that this is the Pit, but you are really, really out of line on this.

Yeah, but not if it’s bread. I mean, how do you even carry that shit?

They say that bread is bad for homeless people and you should feed them cracked corn, peas, or mealworms instead.

Wait, that’s ducks.

Bread is bad for ducks was dramatized in the British film About a Boy. The kid threw a whole loaf of stale bread at a duck. Hit the bird and killed it dead.

The Chinese only call it a bun when it is stuffed. Otherwise it is known as Lotus Leaf Bread, which is what is used to make Bao buns.

Lotus leaf bread is a Chinese steamed bread. Semi-circular and flat, the loaves are similar in design to a clamshell. They have a horizontal fold that, when opened, gives the appearance that it has been sliced. Lines or patterns may be added to increase the resemblance to a lotus. If the lotus leaf bread is stuffed with fillings, it is referred to as a lotus leaf bun.

My opinion is that the only person who did any attacking is you. It was completely unwarranted. You are literally attacking someone for trying their best to help someone in the only way they could at the time. Not everyone knows your rules. It is helpful that you explained why other things would be better to offer. It is not helpful to attack someone who is trying to help, when there are so many people out there who don’t try to help at all.

What the everlasting fuck?

In Taiwan, the same word, 吐司, is used for toast and the type of bread that can be toasted. When my Taiwanese wife asks me in Japanese to buy トースト (toast) at the supermarket, I considered it an attack on the language.

But for fuck’s sake, @Johanna was not attacking anyone.

Yeah, now I’m wondering if there was some bizarre misunderstanding. Because i can’t imagine anyone taking, “i don’t have any cash, but would you like this package of pita bread?” as any kind of attack.

“Look, I know you’re Jewish, and it’s Passover…”

I am Jewish, and it is passover…

We were always told the Jews left Egypt with Matzoh because they didn’t have time to let the dough in their bread rise before they had to leave Egypt. But maybe the real reason is that Matzoh was easier to carry, unlike bread, which we all know is impossible to transport to a secondary location.

what the fuck were you THINKING?

because you look like a complete ass

It’s allowable to violate kosher laws if necessary for one’s life or health. So if the Jewish person didn’t have other food, yes they could eat the bread. (Whether a given individual would or not in a specific case is a different question.)

This is seriously, not a good look for you. “Attack”? She had just bought food which she intended to eat. When a homeless person asked her for money, she offered to give them that food.

I understand that ypu were homeless and that this topic is personal and brings up strong emotions in you. I sincerely recommend stepping away from the Dope for a bit.

I don’t normally comment on these things, but… you are so wrong here, yet you’re doubling-down. What a shitty-ass thing to say.

You’re way, way off base here. Being a jerk is never a good look.

And that’s why ever after it was called Dead Duck Day.

@Czarcasm, dude, I love ya man. But you went a step too far, here.
Say “I’m sorry” and move on.
